recently ive learned switch 3's and ive found that they are much easier than normal 3's. i find you have alot more time to think in the air about your landing.
way easier. you are wound up going into the switch 3, the first 180 is automatic then you just bring it around. i can do them with a minimal amount of air, making them a great sidebooter trick
The only time people fuck them up is when they try to throw them hard. You really just have to look to get around on a small jump, super easy. Agree that it's easier than a 3.
yeah there are a few reasons for that. one is that you never really take your eyes off the landing in a switch 3. the switch 1 comes easily then its just a little transfer.
the other thing (for me at least) is that i prefer to take off from big jumps switch. means i cant bail out as easily and it means you pretty much HAVE to spin (unless you want to do a zero spin, which is harder). and if you have time in the air after the switch 1 you might as well make it around (see point 1)
hell no, dont know if its cuz i mostly ski moguls but its definetly a lot easier to set and float a normal 3. i always feel like on my switch ones and occasional switch 3s i come off the jump on my heels and it just feels awkward and i land back seat, but then again could just be me.
i've seen a bunch of kids try switch 1s and get really off-balanced. i think i know your problem.
my guess is that you're leaning far towards the front of your skis (it's natural to do this when riding switch) so when you start to spin off the jump your body starts to go horizontal.
just keep your weight centered over your feet before you hit the jump and make sure you aren't leaning to far forward... try my advice and tell me how it goes
What stqance would you recommend to set off for a switch 3? I was gona create a thread on asking for advice but then saw this here. I have been lanidng a few 3s recently not on anything big though and would like to try a switch 3, was in the park today but couldn't get my head around the take off position so I could get the whole spin in. I can do switch 180s I look over my left shoulder then just bring my sholders body and skis around going left my natural spinning side. Any tips?
I think its easier because that first 180 is just so natural. Every part of you wants to face forward. I love switch 3s. Switch 5s on the other hand i seem to have a hard time with, cant seem to not get off axis.
Thanks. SHould I look left on take off aswell as during the spin? I was thinking I'd have to be looking right to then look left at the spin to get more momentum and "cork".
