SWINE FLU

it actually prevents 1/4th of the virus, because it's 2 part bird flu, 1 part swine flu, and 1 part human flu. the one part human flu was in the vaccine this year

this has nothing to do with the healtcare system, maybe something to do with the millions in epidemic control from the stimulus that karl rove got his senate buddies to pull, claiming it was pork.

as for the liberal media, i just saw fox news, banner said "Swine Flu: The Next Black Death?"

Its not the liberal media, its just the media. Dont try to blame this one on us

is not just the media. its everyone. fucking biden was on tv yesterday saying you shouldnt get on a plane....

and i read today that there have only been 8 confirmed deaths in mexico. and were at 1 in the us. more people die getting hit by cars everyday.

It's easy to say that Ben...unless you're in an area where there's been an outbreak.
I go to the University of Delaware, and we're on the verge of shutting down. We've got 4 confirmed cases, and 12 other probables in 2 days. When you're in a class of 300 people, and people are coughing and sneezing, and some people are wearing masks...it's not that cool, and it's a little scary,

I'm on a college campus with 4 definite and another 12 "probable" (CDC must confirm test results) cases. College campuses are obviously notorious for spreading illnesses. There's news vans everywhere, and kids are wearing surgical masks. Every event/activity other than classes have been cancelled.
I realize that where you are is inherently dangerous, but you're comparison isn't relevant or comparable. It's easy to downplay and dismiss something if it's not directly affecting your daily life.

but at the same time the 1 kid that did die in the US was a young kid with previous health problems. I understand its scary, I probably would be too if i was in your place (thank god for being in the middle of nowhere montana). but it just seems like this fear is unwarranted.

Look, the media fanfare is a fucking joke. It's typical dramatic graphics, and music, and "special breaking urgent reports". It's like Hurricane coverage. Obviously, things are being overly dramatized in order to move people to buy newspapers, watch cable news networks, and check cnn.com every 10 minutes. But, that doesn't mean that some fear/caution aren't warranted. We're not talking ebola here, but it's still nothing to absolutely write off as complete bullshit, and when it's in your face and it's affecting your daily routine, it's a lot more salient an issue.
