Sweitchzer Mountain

Hey, I'm at Sweitchzer mountain (i think that's how you spell it) and it's really sick. The old jumps from the jib jam are still visible, and i got to see the great escape quad from yeah dude and the bridge gap. Anyone been there in the winter?? how is the stomping grounds park?? worth a trip?

 
my family went on a trip there a few years back. it was amazing, we loved it so much that i just about had my parents talked into buying the condo we were staying in off some family friends... but then that summer a mudslide took out the condos(red cricket condos or something like that). stupid mudslide, i hate you!
 
swietchzer is sick.....decent tree skiing...good powder....they have a huge backside that is really fun. i was there for a race series and it was only sunny 1 day and super foggy all the other days...which i guess is the norm. the drive up to the mountain was pretty sketchy in our 15 passenger van with icy roads and we drifted the switchbacks...definitly worth the trip.
 
yea, i could see how that road could get sketchy. im so pissed i came here in the summer, damn it. are u from anchorage??
 
we are both from fairbanks. and the drive up was the only thing i didnt like about, i would get super excited every turn becasue i thought we were there.
 
I grew up skiing there. and i will always consider it my home. Why were you up there in the summer? it isn't open yet.
 
yeah we got excited every turn too....on the most sketchy day we had up there, ice on the road, snow/rain, fog...our coach who was driving the van decided he was gonna race the other teams vans....so he went in the oncoming traffic lane and just fucking rallied and passed everyone else and then some other team decided they were gonna race us and they ended up going in the ditch. it was hilarious but i thought i was gonna die (and yes i am from fairbanks)
 
Schweitzer is defiantly worth the trip and the 9 switchbacks are scary as hell going down in a snowstorm.
 
Yea I ride schweitzer it has a sick park. 3 minute lift ride so u can lap all day.

Yeah those switchbacks keep you on your toes they are gnarly
 
Schweitzer aka "auschwitz" home of the nazis. The mountain isn't to bad but the park sucks, people are cool if your a white person. other than that my experience at stomp games this year was horrible, due to a broken down suv and some bad weather. If your in the area head up to Montana instead, not as sketchy and much better snow.
 
maybe you should know what you are talking about before you post. Yes, north idaho used to be occupied by part of the KKK, but they have been removed for at least 6 years. their compound was burned down and the leader died in Alabama 4 years ago. It wasn't even near schweitzer, it was 50 miles south. We are recovering, slowly but surely, from our bad rap that we used to have. IIf you dont like schweitzer then awesome. more snow for the people who do like it.
 
ya generally schweitzer is really sick, sometimes the park gets a little undergroomed but the tree skiing on the backside is unreal, so many spots to find little powder stashes. CHEEZ-IT and a couple of other guys on here (Soul Crew) ski there mainly
 
I proposed there!

Great for powder. The park isn't the best, but I'm usually only there early in the season so it's kinda hard to say.
