Sweet lil doohickey, for the Lupo-heads out there that’re anglin for a bit more forward lean..

“Massively more durable than the walk mode lever that comes on the boot and designed to add 2.5 degrees of forward lean. Being an assembly of CNC machined parts, the tolerances of the levers are much tighter so the levers themselves have little play and feel very robust.

The amount of forward lean was chosen to combat a dead spot type feel in the boot between neutral and when you flex into the tongue. Inspecting the shell without the liner in, we found that the back of the boot can lean forwards about 2 degrees before making contact with the rest of the boot shell. So there was 2 degrees worth of flexing into the tongue where the stiffness of the back of the boot was zero then after that you it would kick in again. With the 2.5 degrees of added forward lean, the back of the boot is always providing some amount of stiffness so that vague portion of the range of motion where boot stiffness changes suddenly is gone.

To get more forward lean and better durability, some material has to be added, so there is a weight penalty of 14g per lever assembly (28g total). For reference, this is the equivalent of putting 1/4 of a Clif Bar in each boot.

One note on compatibility. As is, these don't fit on boots with the carbon cuff, such as the Lupo Factory, without a shim….”

cool product but you gotta be tripping sack if you think i'm payin $109 for 2.5 degrees

Ha ya, a bit eye-watering at first, but not necessarily, in the grand scheme of things.. Particularly if these happen to be the boots that fit your feet/perform best for you, and the greater forward lean is what you want/need to better dial them in.

Overall that can add up to being a decent investment over the life of the boots, esp if you’re demanding a lot of days in a given season (or even if your days are limited, so having the best experience you can in them is more crucial). Add to that being able to easily transfer them to newer and/or other Lupos in your quiver over a lifetime, if again, that’s your go-to boot.

That all being said, if you choose to go a diff route to get your Lupos where you need/want em to be, either my jerry-rigging it yourself, living with it stock, or just going to a diff boot entirely, no one should ever give you a hard time about it, unless they’re the ones skiing in your place and paying the bill.

I for one am super stoked they came out with a more functional, durable version of what’s a fairly critical component to a boot model that I’ll be enjoying, and now making even better use of, for years and years to come. And with that, a 109 bucks is something I’ll figure out how to deal with in the short term.

$100 for some walk mode levers might seem expensive, but for what it is $100 is pretty reasonable. Machined parts for niche things aren't cheap

I guess thats true. Machined parts + all the developing and testing that went into them and the price becomes more understandable. Plus they'll probably outlast the life of the boot so you can transfer from shell to shell as you go.

Stoked you brought this up! Had no idea they made these (have several of their bike products and they’re tight) and I have been trying to get my lupos to feel better while skiing. Actually just swapped out to a softer tongue in the next size up in an attempt to get more flex with a slightly higher cuff. Also added intuitions wrap liner and the wrap strap, which feels amazing, plus a booster strap above that to keep the top of the liner together. If I need to get even more over the toes, I’d definitely be tempted to try these out. Many thanks my dude
