Sw Backflip vs. Frontflip

So in the pool and on the tramp this summer it comes way easier for me to do a backflip than a frontflip. I got'em both down really good, but i can just throw more style on the backflips. So I ask you this..... is it easier to do a Sw backflip or a frontflip for the first time? It just seems like you can huck easier throwing yourself back rather than foward.

i think a frontflip would be easier bacuse you dont have to look over your shoulder to land/takeoff but in my opinon regular backflips would be even easier

i cant do gainers...i dont know why, but i am afraid to try one...i just imagine myself not moving forward and landing on the dock/rocks that i am jumping off of...i am goingt o start doing rodeos and corks first...this weekend i will learn off my buddies rope swing. :)

Uh, rodeos are pretty gainer-ish. you might be thinking of a misty.

Anyways, a front flip is definitely easier than a switch backflip if we are talking about skiing. even though it seems like it would be easy to throw a backflip switch cause its easier to do a backflip than a gainer, it is pretty technical to take off and land switch on an invert. theres a reason rory did it in the x-games his first run, its a technical trick.

front flips are harder than backflips but not that hard. they just take tons of balls. to hurl yourself off a big lip like taht you really have to commit.

frontflips are so easy. i do them all the time. just lean forward off the jump. you dont even need to jump.

That's weird because I just learned gainers and I have no problem with tossing them. Off of cliffs and stuff I'd rather throw those than like misty 5's... it's nutty.

yeah once u get that first gainer out of the way they are super easy and then u can take them off of anything from 5 ft off the ground to 50 they're so fun

I think fronts are easier to commit to, which is the biggest part of flips as far as I'm concerned

im the same man. i cant do backflips but off cliffs and rocks i can do a 180 to back flip type thing. i want to learn them though cause they look ill im just scared to try

Front flips are such a bitch to land plus in my opinion they look gay. You have to be really agressive on the landing. Backflips are so much easier cause you can see your landing the whole time.

thats the biggest part of flips as far as EVERYONE is concerned. as far as most people with any regard for their own life are concerned anyways.

Backflips, switch or regular, are in my opinion easier because you can see the whole rotation and stomp it easy, but front flips are a bit less scary the first time around. If anything I think a switch backflip is easier than a regular backflip (if you're comfortable taking off switch). Just make sure to pop off the lip at the right time or you'll drift backwards into death- but just give er a good pop, look back and you'll stomp it. I learned switch backflips the day after learning to take off switch, and was blown away how easy they are.

frontflips are easier on the ground, a switch bflip would be easier than doing it on the ground, but a frontflip is still easier even wen on a diving board or a tramp

Front flips are easy because you dont need much speed, air, or skill. I land my first front flip first try off a kicker that shot like 15 to 20 up. Today I was pullin fronts off of a jump with little speed and only 7 or less feet of air. Fronts are a trick that can be done off almost any ok jump after learned and look sick. Meanwhile sw backs are super hard. Haven't tried one but saw a guy break his arm doing one last year. You need mad switch landing vision skill to take off switch and major guts. If you try one do it into pow.

This thread is almost as old as I am. If it were new, I'd say both tricks are about the same in difficulty, just different problems to overcome. Do whichever feels more natural. Or just try both and stick with the one that hurts less.

run into the take-off if it's like 10 ft.+. it's almost gaurunteed ull get it around from that height. I did one off 6ft. bleachers to like 2ft. high mat and just landed on my knees. take off on one foot
