I'm farely new to the freeski world and ive been doing park for a little over a year now, and im getting a more park specific ski this year but im not sure which on to get..

Im 6'1" at 156 lbs and 16, i want a softer ski that i can butter with easily but ii can still hit jumps and land solidly (not noodly). Im going to be doing all aspects of park this year, but mainly doing rails, boxxes, jibs and jumps. I mainly will be doing kickers and maybe half pipe but i still want a ski that i can take to the rail. Im looking for a ski in the range on 250 to 390, these are a few ive known to be good skis that i can also get in the price range. can you guys help me and out with which ones to choose? off of what ive told you cause im cought between which ones to buy, thanks!.

hmm alright thanks, im leaning towards the bangs right now, maybe the anthems, ive heard good things there too

no problem dude. ledges are sick skis. another good soft skis in the tanner hall pro model. soft ski that will still keep its own on the jumps

alright sweet thanks, ive looked into the t-halls and they a lil exspensive but ill look around for them, and yea thats what ive heard,, that the edge pops out at shit. thanks man, big help haha seriously

Compared to the rest of the skis on that list though, afterbangs are pretty soft. If you want the Afterbang construction, but want it to be stiffer, then go with the Step-up, same ski just stiffer, everyone I've talked to on the Line team love them.
Here's a breakdown of your list:- Suspects - poppy, mid-stiff, fairly light, but has had some major issues in the durability department, but seems kinda hit or miss- Walls - the 07/08s and 08/09s are stiff, while the 09/10s are mid-stiff, much more reliable as far as durability goes, pretty poppy, but on the heavier side- Anthems - super fun park ski, very buttery, fun on rails, but can give you some wash out issues on bigger jumps, also on the heavier side (but that's cause they're 93 underfoot)- Chronics - probably my favorite Line park ski (I like stiffer skis personally), pretty stiff, but still butter-able, durable, poppy, kills jumps, pretty light, awesome ski.- Afterbangs - well...here: https://www.newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/521977/

A ski that you might also want to look into is atomic punx. I dont have a pair but have heard nothing but good things about them.

I'm getting next years suspects for this upcomeing year, I guess there being made in austria and not china so the build quality should be much mcuh better. I had 08/09 suspects and they were the best jumping ski I've owned, the pop on it is just amazing, I could get it to butter but it took considerable strength. But yes the edge ripped out after like 20 day of skiing. I think next years suspect is going to have way better duribelity then the last two seasons because of it being made in austria. But that's my opinion.

Why the fuck would you even think about buying a ski that you broke again? Thats so stupid.

There are also better skis out their.

I love my anthems! I am exactly the same size and age as you and this ski kills it. It's soft enough to play around when the park is shitty and the rest of the mountain sucks. Here are some pros and cons...

Pros:

Super light

Tight turning radius

Symmetrical flex and dimensions so riding switch is the same as forward

Carbon ollie bands give the ski some pop

Butter zones allow you to control spins out of butters and presses a lot better.

Pretty wide giving you more stability on rails

Con (Yes I only have one...):

Topsheet gets torn to shreds (It's purely cosmetic though)

Well that's my rundown of the ski, I love them and would suggest you get some before they're all gone.

I personally don't like walls or suspects. The suspects are amazing skis but if you push it hard durability will be a problem so not my number one. The Afterbangs are cool but mayby a little short for you at 6'1" although you are light so you could probably work with the 177. Personally though I think the best ski for you would be Anthems or check out the LTE from Liberty pretty cheap ski and its awesome.

Suspects- this seasons and past years durability sucked. they are a pretty stiff ski and probably the stiffest(?) out of all of them.

Walls-super durable. less stiff but still pretty stiff, symmetrical and from what I heard a super good ski.

anthems-poppy light symmetrical not stiff semi durable rail ski with the fattest underfoot out of them all. My brother has the 08 ones and they are still riding fine.

chronics- durable, about same or less stiffness than the walls ,not symmetrical, but close so a -1 or -1.5 would work fine, poppy and probably could handle the biggest jumps out of all of these.

afterbangs-from what I heard not too durable, decent stiffness, mostly rail ski

My top choice- walls. But I have not read what you put in the ops post, so that may not be the choice for you. Hope this helped somewhat and if I made any errors, can someone tell me...

fer sure look at the ar6's/ ar7's and atomic punx. the punx are just a more symmetrical flex and symmetrical shape to the ar6 in my opinion. yes ive ridden both..and they feel very similar to flex, weight, etc.

just curious, am i the only light skier on this site that would rather have a stiff, super poppy ski that i can go as fast as i want on..or a soft, really flexy ski that cant really hold a good edge?

saying that, my favorite ski so far as been the suspects. they are stiff, but SO fucking poppy its incredible. and they have held up better than my ar6s in the same amount of day. but the risk is not worth it

I'm the very same way about the suspects, I really like it's pop of jumps and kickers. Kinda hard to butter with though. Can't wait till next years stuff comes out.

Armada T-Hall or Salomon Suspects
Im going with the suspects this year cause they have nose rocker and from what i've heard, they are a sick pair of skis

^this guy knows whats up. suspects suck. whatever you do, dont get suspects. my friend has them and it looks like he put them in a giant blender after 1 year on them. and he only does small stuff

the new suspects are being made in austria this year and not china, so I think the duribilety should be better. Plus it's a great ski so if I were you I'd get suspects.

i loved my anthems so much until i trashed them. great fun and really quick to get used to. i thought they were fine on big jumps. but yea the top sheet is easily trashed.
i just got a pair of bangs and i am still no used to them yet, but it think i need the base bevel and then the edge detuned and i think i'll love them.
