Suspected Terrorist for a Day

Alright, so while I've been home on winter break from college, I've been working downtown at this chemical manufacturing plant in Cincinnati. We're making this product called Lampricid that is a larvicide for the dreaded sea lamprey. Anyway, today my brother and I have to run some chemical valves over to this other plant, so my boss gives me a visitors clearance pass. So off to the other plant we go. I get there and we pull up to the security gate, and the guard comes outside. I flash my pass, and he's like 'So, what do you want?' I just give the basics like, yea I have to deliver these chem valves to C building from Team Solutions. And he just looks at me like I'm full of crap and says 'I don't think so.' So I'm like wtf. He gets on his radio and then goes over to the police who are tag-teaming with the rent-a-cop. He comes back and is like, where did you get this clearance. I just said from my boss Wayne, but I actually don't know his last name, so they didn't seem to believe that. So he gets on his radio and confers with more police. So I'm gettin annoyed now and I shove the invoice for the order in his face, and the valves I'm delivering are in the back seat. He's like 'Hmmm Refinished Chemical Valves... that's nice, how about we see what's in your trunk.' I'm like awesome and pop that bitch open to reveal CD's, a skateboard, and a pair of boxing gloves. So eventually he gets the person in charge to contact the place I say I'm from, and they're like who did you send over here, and they said 'Marty's sons,' because my dad has worked w/ both companies and was friends w/ the managemnt asking. So they say they can let us through, but the security and cops stop us and give us these passes w/ special numbers. And they tell us that those are to ID us in case anything blows up while we're in there. So eventually I got to make the delivery with no further problems and leave hotspot for potential terrorism just outside the suburbs of cincinnati. The End.

Oh yea, it turned out that the pass I had was actually outdated and they believed it was something I had acquired in order to gain unauthorized clearance.

Dude that totally sucks.

OMG TERRORISTS ARE ATTACKING JUST OUTSIDE OF CINCINNATI GAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

hahha that sucks but its stupid how everyone is so uptight now about security and terrorists

'nigga you shit on me, i shit on you, you put a hit on me, i put a hit on you, a eye for a eye nigga'

its stupid but its the right thing to do i guess

i cant describe the vibe i get when i drive by 6 people and 5 i hit

its better than guards always being lax, but I guess thats what we have to sacrifice to be safe

You deserve to get hassled, just cuz you live in the US, where people are scared of everything for no reason whatsoever. Enjoy the Patriot Act!

I don't think it is stupid that security is tight. But being thorough or wary doesn't involve forgoing common sense. 1) I wasn't delivering anything chemical 2) I had the invoice 3) What was on the invoice was clearly visible in my car 4) He could have asked to see the trunk right away to make sure I wasn't bringing anything suspicious in 5) My company has close business and personal ties with the other plant, and valve shipments are commonplace.

I guess it is weird for younger people to be making deliveries. Although I am 20... maybe it's just strange getting deliveries from 2 kids in a 98 purple cavalier (yea that's right it's the barney-mobile) with a few piercings. Oh well, I got a fun story out of it.

hahaha - you've gotta feel for any arab-american that REALLY does want to become a pliot

You even have the freedom to spell 'amount' incorrectly.

To be honest with you, your country gets less and less free with every passing day.

as sad as it might seem I have to agree with Jib_House, we do get less free with every passing day.

However, it is still better than a lot of other places in the world.

odds of dying in a terrorist attack in the year 2003 in the US: 0

it's ridiculous. 'yellow', 'orange', 'red' alerts, does anybody actually know what these mean? the givernment's doing their best to scare us so we'll bow down and forget about the fact that civil liberties are being curtailed more and more every day. habeas corbus can be suspended by low level CIA and FBI agents, allowing them to hold any 'suspected terrorist' (or even a person who is merely suspected of supporting terroristm, a conveniently ambiguous charge) for no reason for extended periods of time; in addition, these same agents now have the authority to search and/or seize property without a warrant. To top this all off, any audit of these activities is virtually impossible, as all records pertaining to investigation of terrorism related activities and persons are classified, inaccessible to all but thosein the highest echelons of the intelligence community.

On a related note: until G.W. bush's tenure as president, there had been approximately 4,000 'presidential secrets' declared by all former presidents combined. Within a year of his inauguration, he had declared almost 32,000. even though this fact in and of itself does not lend itself to illegal activities, combined with the increased limitations on civil liberties outlined in the PATRIOT acts (plural), it makes one think that maybe this administration has an ulterior motive, something to hide.

don't get me wrong, i love my country. still, it pisses me off when all these dipshits eat up the bush team's lies; it seems that most WANT to believe that what they say is true, without looking at any objective facts.

sorry about my rant. yeah, this didn't have that much to to with the original topic; whoops.

dude, one time, I snorted ketchup off of a pizza. that sucked.

Oh yeah, republicans suck, you right winged conservative bastards, have fun burning in hell!!!!

jib_this... I can vote, I can get an education, I can speak out against my country, I can do many MANY things that 95% of the people in the world can't. Don't be a ignorant dueschbag, you have no fucking idea what you're talking about. I would honestly love to see you try and back up your thoughts, cause you die trying.

You Americans, always whipped into a paranoid frenzy by the media, which feeds right into the government's hands. Scared of anything and everything, new 'security policies' are just another slick maneuver by old Uncle Sam to slowly strip you of your privacy and basic freedoms. I'm probably on a watch list or some bull shit, that's how bad it's getting.

funkymonk: the odds of getting killed in a attack in 2003 are 0 because it has already passed

holy shit you're all so damn ignorant!!!!

at least politics in other countries realize the american governemtn adn american people are two COMPLETELY different things...

Yes, I feel a need to justify my opinions to a bunch of 13 year olds trying to sound smart.

Do the world a favour and travel. Spend some time reading and checking out media sources and litterature from around the world. THEN tell me that you still believe what you believe now. Good luck.

hey pat i love how u say everyone else is wrong and that we have tons more freedom than any other countries but never once have u basically said anything to back up these statements

I have never said every other country has no freedom. I cleary stated that we HAVE a lot of fredom, and gave examples.

as for traveling, I've been to geremany, holland, belgium, iceland, canada, and great britain, and I am planning on going to ireland (and maybe holland) this summer.

Just to RESTATE what I said before....

I personally feel that I have a ton of freedom, seeing as I am able to sit here and type what ever I want without getting in trouble. I am able to go where ever I want in the US (a few weeks ago I was going building to building on capitol hill, even with all the security risks and checks, I was a llowed to go everywhere). I'm also allowed to protest against the government. how many other countries can you do that without getting punished? there are a few, but there are also many where you can't. I also have the ability to work in any job I can get hired to. there are thousands of jobs out there that are available to me. If I get an education (which I am allowed and more then able to do) beyond high school, I can get better jobs. I feel that my life is in no way restricted more now then it was 18 years ago. And my father (74) has stated on numerous occasions that the freedom he has now is more so then when he was a kid.

Give me some proof that I have less freedom, and that americans as a whole are having our freedom taken away.

I like how calling people 12 and 13 year olds has become a popular thing on these boards. It's not like people are aware of who is what age on these boards. The site is probably made up of mostly kids 15-18 I think. A lot of these people calling others 13 year olds are probably around 16 or 17. I'm 20; wouldn't me calling someone a 16 year old be equivalent of some people calling another a 13 year old. There's no reason to bring age into the equation. Age alone doesn't expose someone's ignorance.
