Suspect durability

Hey, I have K2 extremes now and the topsheet has chips all over the sides, I am thinking of getting 09 Salomon suspects, I'm wondering if these skis face the same problem? Or any other problem?

Have you skied ALL of 0809 salomons?

And how would you know their crap?

Salomon has stepped their game up this year,i have extremes too and the topsheet chips like a mother fucker,even when i try and be careful the slightest little thing i hit makes a chip,but personally if your worried on topsheet damage that much,get a new ski,but realisticly theres not a lot of difference in performance between the suspect and extreme,both stiff and relatively poppy,full wood core,sidecut and all that,so if your looking for a different ski id go for something other then salomon,cause their park skis this year are pretty stiff,but if your keen on it,go for it.
 
I know they are crap because every kid on my ski team who has threts broke them within a month and everybody with Suspects are breaking them and will be broken.
 
threats i would say suck, i dont beleive that about the suspects. they are full wood core, and have edge armour. sammy C skied them all last eyar, and didnt break a pair. if your for real, what broke on them?
 
with probably like 30% of kids on newschoolers having suspects (mild exaggeration), and 5 people around bitching about them, i think overall they're having a decent record. mine are doing excellent
 
kid i skiied with had threats and within 3 days of skiing, the edge was fully torn out. good news is that solly is sendin him a new pair free of charge.
 
i wouldnt get this years Salomon. wait until next year when they get all the bugs out. i never buy the 1st year that a model was made/refurbished because there are sometimes problems. my friends threats got destroyed when he hit a rock that i hit first with my 08 chronics. just a scratch for me. and i never saw and Line issues last year and i have always had Line so just if you are wondering why i contradicted myself by buying the first year the chronic was remade
 
I'm not too sure about the suspects, but I did get a pair of 08/09 Dumonts for christmas, (which i believe are relatively the same ?) and after a week of skiing in BC the top sheet looks like shit. I wish i could return them
 
Cheers guys, I think the dumonts are the same as suspects except the double edge armor. Hmmm little worried now, I will demo them and see how chopped up the topsheet and edges are.
 
I have some suspects and they are all chipped and the edges have a lot of cracks

Do you really think that the suspect that sammy skied on last yeard is the same one as you are buying in stores!?? Maybe with little companies you ski the same skis as pros but with big ski companies like salomon I don't think it is the same ski...
 
Okay. Do you think he skied on just one pair. No way. I doubt he skied on them everyday he skied. What if there was a huge dump at hood. is he going to be out there on those or a fat ski? A fat ski of course. I'm sure they have him test other skis too. I am sure he sees 20+ pairs of those a year. How do you know he did not break a pair?
 
Those skis seemed extremely stiff when I flexed them in my shop. Like, I was astonished at how stiff they were. I would never want a park ski that stiff.
 
ill put it ut there. I LOVE MY 09 DUMONTS. they are super fun, no problems so far
 
sammy gets his skis for free.were you riding in his back pocket with him the whole season to verify he didnt break a pair.
 
well the irony of Sammy's comment is that he said he didn't break a pair.. But he didn't mention how many of the skies he rode... the Joss edit skis (were filmed beside him) looked awfully good compared (top sheet chipping and so on) compared to him having skied it all season as he said :)
