Survivor video from bc avy

Such a good post. Everyone take the time to watch this video and please educate yourself before you head into the backcountry and realize how dangerous it is out there without proper knowledge and gear.

gezzz that sucks, + vibs for sure. what could they have even done differently tho? did they all have becons?

My god, i can't even imagine the feeling of how helpless i would be at that point, I mean the guys burried probably had their beeper to reciever:S

This is some heavy stuff...

Can patrol do anything about that at KH? If I remember right there was some sort of open boundary policy not sure if that changes things~

I wasnt referring to the avalance, rather whether or not patrol at kh can do anything about people going out of bounds without gear~

R.I.P
shit man i think the hardest part would be having to leave you friends that were still buried and start walking awayfuck

true this!

the conditions were that bad the search team called off the search (mainly cause f the cornices)

its a fucking tragedy no doubt. an hate to say this, but this is what can happen if you don't take heed to the appropriate warnings.

Ski Patrol here (kh) don't control who goes out of bounds at all. The only place where I have seen that is Mt. Baker, or the few hills that just dont allow you to go OB at all.

Super sad story. Unfortunate that they decided it was too dangerous to be in there after they dug themselves out rather than before they entered the bowl in the first place.

Use your brains. Stupidity is the leading cause of slide deaths

this moved me to tears... guess nobody can imagine how lost and guilty this guy felt when he left his friend as the next avy was coming in...

I wonder if I would continue shredding if something like that would happen to me.

mad karma to this guy

this also moved me too tears, that was very powerful. I cant possibly imagine having to make that decision to leave 8 freinds to their death. fuck, why cant people be smart so this shit doesnt fucking happen.

i watched the video yest... and wasnt going to reply to this thread... but i can not stop thinking about that story..... i cant even imagine how that guy feels.... it moved me to tears (and i really dont cry often)....

i just got a beacon and i am getting a snowmobile... and all i can think about are the dangers.. and my friends that go out there almost every week....

what got me even more about that story was the four people that came up to that group.. to help dig.. and how they got buried.... and the three guys that survived didnt get a signal from anyone!! (no beacons?)........ soooo sad...

everyone please be safe, get beacons.... and check the snow pack and any avalanche websites before you go out!!!
