Survival Items

So some friends and I are going to head into the woods for a survival weekend. We figure the rules are that you can only bring 5 items. We will be camping near a lake in upstate NY.

For example, a box of matches is one item, a knife and flint would be two items. you get the idea. Clothes don't count as items.

What are the five best items to bring?

there are gonna be so many hilarious responses to this hahahaha

in all seriousness i would bring

1. sleeping bag

2. tent

3. matches

4. water

5. food, or if you plan to hunt for your food, a gun

you could also replace the tent with a knife, if you dont mind building your own shelter

does shelter count as an item? cause you're going to want a tent and a sleeping bag. how about food / water?

assuming they dont ,

fire, blade, light, rope, beer

Is this 5 items in addition to food and water? If not, I would go with:

MASSIVE jar of peanut butter

Water Filter (assuming you have something to put water in)

Sleeping Bag

Lighter

Tent

Bring some scent tools. I light ax or hatchet. A good fixed blade knife and some flint (knife tone used as steel. Mabey a guide book to identify local edibles and a bottle f booze

You can make everything you need with a good knife, the ax will make shit easier but I assume if you trying to do a survival style thing than a tent or sleeping bag defeats the purpose. Make your own shelter and at the very least don't use matches to light your fires

Ten essentials (pick five)1. navigation

2.sun prtection

3.insulation (extra clothing)

4. headlamp

5. fire (flint and steel>matches: because will work when wet)

6. repair kit and tool, including knife

7. nutrition (extra food)

8. hydration

9.emergency shelter

10. first aid

Raw meat and donuts to attract bears and wolves to use for food, a bowie knife to kill them, a lighter to start a fire and a tarp to make a shelter.

I'm thinking:

waterproof matches

bow saw

sleeping bag

beer (cans are useful and its a good source of water and carbs)

lots of Quaker oats

nug

muli purpose tool

flint (steel is on the tool)

metal pot (to boil water)

food

i figure you can just carve a bowl with the knife

use the fire you made to light it

wear warm clothes and make a shelter

make it so the fire is facing the shelter to keep you warm

all the clean water you want with the pot

if it's only a night or 2, don't be a pussy

1) Large knife

2) Beer, serve more than one purpose

3) Some sort of fire starting device

4) food

5) more beer

You're probably going to get a lot of joke responses because this in NS, but my uncle hiked the entirety of the Appalachian Trail, so I like to consider myself well learned in the art of wilderness survival. If I were to choose a measly five items to live for 2 days off of I would probably choose:

1. Dildo

2. Dildo

3. Dildo

4. Dildo

5. Dildo

>bring knife.

>take all other friends supplies at knifepoint

>explain to them that they should have brought a knife

>win survival weekend

a can for boiling water (tin can withfood would be prime), flint, leatherman, extra layers, a waterproof bag

sleeping bag, weed, lighter, pipe, flashlight. Hopefulyl some of your freinds bring an axe or someshit so you can make a fire.

why bring flint if you can bring a lighter?

if its raining, your fucked anyway.

plus, its a pain in the ass to light those doobies with a flint.
