Surprised by Majority of NS Political Views.

This is a statement that isn't substantiated by anything more than 30 days worth of job numbers.

The claim that Ohio went from 4th to 48th is true, but that's based upon monthly statistics. Guess what, one month after Ohio was ranked 4th, they were ranked dead last:

http://www.plunderbund.com/2012/04/20/ohio-ranked-dead-last-in-job-creation-in-march-2012/

That is what we call "spin".

The highest Ohio has ever ranked in GDP, which is a true measurement of a states "strength" as you put it - is 8th, and that was under Ted Strickland in 2009, a democrat.

Also, a fact: states with conservative governors and states that rank 'most conservative' in federal elections - take the highest percentage of federal assistance and rank the lowest in GDP.

Just some food for thought.

First off I would like to compliment you. You seem to know far better than anyone else on this website "real" politics.

However, I would also like to ask you a "real" question rather than you refuting conservative claims. What exactly do you want the government to do?

I hope it is not stay exactly as it is until our government goes bankrupt like greece.

Would a liberal, democrat, or what ever the hell you wanna label you're self as please explain to me how Obamas policies will improve our economy? All I hear from you guys is how the right is wrong, I hardly ever hear about how Obamas policies are going to work. So please provide me an explanation. Thanks.

The only thing I think government can absolutely manage better than a free market, is healthcare. There are too many examples of successfully run government programs, that actually save nations money, for us not to figure this out. Healthcare should never be a for profit industry, which it is right now.

People whine and complain about made up government 'death panels' - but in reality, you have death panels at insurers right now, charged with deciding whether or not to pay a claim, and that decision is based upon profitability - which is bullshit. I have two friends who literally do this job for United Health. They pour over patient charts, and apply a formula to decide the profitability of paying a claim and the associated risks, versus denying it. Any rebuttal suggesting people will manipulate the system, go to the doctor when they don't need to, bankrupt our country - is incredibly uneducated on viable government run health care programs.

Outside of that, taxes need to return to Clinton levels, hell, even a return to Reagan levels would start paying down our deficits and debt. I think earned income tax rates should stay low for those making under $250,000 - but unearned taxes, like capital gains rates and corporate tax rates, should be much higher.

This can turn into another massive discussion - but the reality is, if you want to lower the amount of revenue we take in, which we have done, drastically over the last decade - then we need to lower expenses. When conservatives say the military is off the table, and the military consumes 54% of our annual expenditures, these people are not serious about actually lowering deficits - because there flat out isn't enough expense to cut in social programs, to make a difference.

your articles are from months ago and also is 4th higher than 8th, im not sure my math could be a little off.

GDP 4th or 8th...not job creation buddy.

you know we have the highest capital gains tax in the world right...

jesus man you come in here righting big paragraphs yet you dont know shittttt.

this is why companies want to leave AMURICA.

fuckin joker.

You're literally talking about a fractional facet of global economics, and you're scaling that to be a definitive statement. Sort of like how you took the job creation rate during a single month for Ohio, and scaled that to mean Ohio is the 4th most successful state in the country. It's a great example of how conservative talking points influence stupid people; you hear something you like, you run with it - without understanding the fundamentals which would enable you to see whether the talking point was accurate.

OMFG WE PAY SO MUCH IN CAPITAL GAINS SO COMPANIES SHIP JOBS OVER SEAS, YEAAAAA!!!

This conversation is over your head pal. Maybe focus on using the correct "writing" in your responses - and let the adults have the intelligent conversations.

Also, I went through your feedback, lol @ u - thank god there is a member block button.

OMG MEMBER BLOCK BUTTON!!!

YOU ARE A FUCKING TOOL BUDDY. YOU DONT GET IT ONE BIT.

GOOD JOB POSTING ARTICLES FROM FUCKING 6 MONTHS AGO YOU DUMMY.

btw wtf are you talking about, you are the one talking about raising capital gain taxes when they are already the highest in the world. like please make some fucking sense.

how about this.

states with conservative fiscal policies are doing better than the ones run by dems.

does that statement work?

That statement works fine, it unfortunately isn't substantiated by anything. You don't seem to get how this works; you make a statement, the burden of proof is on you.

You seem to prefer name calling and insults - but that's par for the course when someone doesn't have actual facts on their side.

you know, i think she may have a point. We don't need to use profanity, diminutize people, or otherwise bash just because we have different political views. The fact that everyone is entitled to their own views and has a chance to voice those, is a great privilege. In fact we argue so much we don't know how good we have it here. Im polish and luckily not my direct ancestors, but some uncles were taken off to a little place called the katyn forest in 1940 and methodically massacred along with 22,000 other polish citizens for various "crimes" - one of those was having a political opinion.

I think it's always good to just keep things in perspective, that's all.

To each, his or her, own. While I might not agree with certain views of certain parties, I believe that the political parties are becoming far too polarized. It's not in everyone's best interest to get as far left or far right as they possibly can- the person that we need to lead this country is going to be a well-rounded individual who takes into account multiple perspectives. A person's vote should not be determined by a political party, but instead go to a candidate which they believe represents their views the best.

At least someone agrees with me...

The dude straight up won't stop PMing me, so I keep toying him. It's getting hilarious.

im an average republican, pretty much as far right as you can go on economic issues, and far left on social issues. shows how retarded the two party system is. I could be considered a hardcore liberal if i were focusing on social issues, which ive never considered myself even close to being. even on social issues. there are a lot of social issues that i completely disagree with liberals on, id probably be average democrat with social issues if it were more in depth.

the modern "liberal" and "conservative" both seem to be far off of what they really are. i like what Ron Paul said during the debates when asked about his somewhat "liberal" beliefs when it comes to some things. something like, im the most conservative person here, i want no government intervention, its the other candidates who sound like liberals.

you would think the government not having a say in what you can smoke/consume, who you can marry, and not being involved with most social issues, would be a pretty conservative belief, along the lines of their belief in limited government intervention.

my opinion: both parties need to just fuck off, 100% conservative and 100% liberal ideas, in the modern definition, are completely retarded. if you completely agree with obama or completely agree with romney, your an idiot, they both represent the negatives of both parties much more than they represent the positives, neither will help our country, the most we can hope for is the slow the fucking of our country down, and IMO, Romney will do that, simply because it will allow Obama to have less of an impact.

I'm not too familiar with US political history, but when exactly did thing diverge so greatly into the two-party aspect and how could the whole system be revamped and reformed if there was a possibility in the future?

It diverged mostly during Jefferson v. Adams and thereafter.

The system won't be reformed as long as those two parties have all the power they have. they aren't going to relinquish any of that by allowing more parties into the fray

The republicans don't want the libertarians stealing their votes. the Democrats don't want the greens stealing their votes.

Even then it would seem like a four-way split, dem, rep, lib, grn. Are there any other options/analyses/opinions about a possible reformation floating around? Any chance of some honest lefties having a go at parliament?

No, it's not that easy. There are a ton of minor parties in the USA, not just greens and libertarians and whatnot else... (I honestly don't know a ton about the minor parties).

I do know that in 2000, when Ralph Nader was running for a 2nd time and had quite a bit of support for a minor party, the GOP and DNC blocked him from all the debates via the commission of presidential debates... so he got zero airtime nationally...

Then the DNC went and blamed him for losing the election to bush... because the Greens are all very liberal like the Democrats would be, and got like 2.5 million votes... including a bunch in New Hampshire which would have won it for Gore had those gone to him instead...(even 1/3rd of Nader's votes in New Hampshire would have won it for gore - he only lost the state by 7k votes, and Nader had 22k in NH)

Same thing happened early in the 90's when Republicans fully blamed Ross Perot for fucking up the republicans game... because he got like 19% of the popular vote, many of whom were from conservative voters. (which is probably why the Commission of Presidential Debates was even created - the republicans were threatened by Perot)

Really though, Bush Alienated all of his moderates with his whole culture war attitude in that election... not to mention the economy tanking at the time. That election pretty much shifted the balance in the country to where states politically align themselves today.

im honestly surprised by the lack of Vermin Supreme supporters on the website, the guys policies are just too simple and honest to not vote for. Plus hes a full blown wizard which i figured would attract the younger crowd.

Sounds like a bit of a hassle. I think you would need more extrapolate polls and questions to those who are attempting to join your congress/parliament in the next election and more unbiased and uncomplicated ways of getting that information through to the people who usually vote on ideals without knowing who and what they are attempting to raise up to Capitol Hill. Giving more airtime or opportunities to speak to the nation concerning a general election is weak enough, but shutting someone down entirely is bulliocrappu.

Same thing happened during the last two elections here (pareliament and presidential) - the underdogs of the very likely opposition barely got a word out compared to other parties and candidates, even in the National Public broadcasts. Sure, I'm against those underdogs from time to time, but let them speak and get themselves known.

With the poll introduced in another thread, my first two pres candies were Jill Stein and Gary Johnson. Obviously I had never heard of them, but I was surprised that many NS members who got the same results were also completely oblivious as to who they actually were. It says a lot about the system.

see thats the problem with pandering to the youth crowd, they go through fads so quickly a candidate would have to go from rapper to wizard to zombie to internet meme back to rapper and then comedian just to make it to election day

Zombie wizard rapper comedian, maybe?

I gots you all in stitches/

the merry-go-round is all full o' bitches/

they lappin' my rotting dick around like a wizard staff, dude/

but does anyone think what's up with airline food?

Peace.
