Surgery

So I am getting hip surgery in the upcoming month and it is freaking me out. 3-6 month with no physical activity, 1 year for 100% recovery. What are some things you guys have done to stay active and any good sedentary hobbies I could try? Anything would be helpful!

pulled a simon dumont in january and fractured my pelvis in five places. Just relax, you'll be back to walking in no time. I just got to come back to school which is so great. Learn to play the guitar, read, game, sleep, repeat

That sounds like it sucked! How long we're you out of school? And one of my friends is suggesting I get a butterfly knife hahaha

Meh, surgery isn't bad. Yeah, the lack of activity afterwards blows, but from my experience it just motivates you to work harder, and come back better. That said, your recovery speed will largely depend on the effort you put in. If you put 100% into therapy each and every time, you often recover faster than expected. After brain surgery my surgeon predicted 8 weeks minimum till I would be able to go back to school, went back in 4. Recovery of basic abilities, took a while but they also came back much faster than predicted. Mainly because I worked my ass off and didn't like my current condition. Also if you're in shape currently, you'll probably get better faster. But besides all that shit, hope the surgery goes perfectly man, I'm sure you'll be up and going again before you even realize it.

I have knee surgery in 13 days and Im assuming it'll be the same as my last 3 months with no activity. oh well. at least I don't have to watch people ski anymore.

just find a repetitive and challenging activity you enjoy. find 2 or 3 actually. that'll keep you busy.

the best time killer ever created is world of warcraft if you can afford it. it's just super addicting.

Depends what you're interested in really. If you just like to have fun without much of a challenge, play video games a lot. If you like to think and try to learn new things though, id recommend trying to learn some programming languages. It sounds really boring, but its actually fun and its a pretty rewarding feeling. Plus, its cool to be able to make your own programs to help you with whatever you're doing
