Surfing in Baler, Philippines - Video Critique + Some photos

Hey NS,

I recently was lucky enough to go on a surf trip to Baler in the Philippines with a buddy of mine. Initially there were supposed to be four of us but ended up as two due to to various reasons. Anyway, I thought I would bring my camera along to film some shots to expand my action sport portfolio. It was my first time filming surf so I'm pretty happy with what I manage to achieve, it was a way different experience than anything I have done before. Any critique would be very much appreciated.

Surfers include mainly locals, my friend and a our surf guide. A few of me two, but they are not the best.

Thanks!

Damn what a nice video! I love the smooth panning, and transitions. Not a huge fan of the song, but I guess it fits.

Which lens did you film with?

Thanks guys. I thought there might me some reaction on the song but I love it and thought it fitted really well so I'm happy with it. Each to there own, its all good!

Shot with various lenses. Mainly the 70-200 F4 IS for the surf shots, with a 1.4x extender (surf was a long way away) and the 24-105 F4 IS for the handheld shots due to it having IS - both canon.

Loved the filming, as usual. You had a nice mix of other shots in there which weren't all about surfing, that was great. Shame the water was so murky - but that's not something you can influence.

Honestly I think the song was great, but it just didn't go well with the pace of the edit. Maybe some more sunshine or faster surf shots would've made it fit more nicely, I don't know.

Good work though, always look forward to your edits!

Thanks for the feedback guys, always very much appreciated. Both waves were tons of fun.

HWW, there were two surf spots in the edit. One was over a reef and super clear, you could see the bottom while you were on the wave (you don't want to bail on that wave) and the other was a beach break where the sand was actually volcanic sand so almost black. Thats why the water looked so murky cause it was picking up all the sand. The spots were only about 15 mins apart by car (tricycle) so the water changes dramatically.

Each to their own on the song. I tried to mix up some fast paced shots and slow-mo to fit with the song make it more diverse, maybe I got a couple cuts in the wrong place.
