Surfing Edits / Anything to do with surfing

I still don't quite understand surfing on the east coast. If it's only good a handful of days a year and you care about surfing, why don't you move you somewhere else?

First of all that's not true, on a good year you could get a ton of good days. Also some people might have jobs, family, friends, are close to a resort, etc.

Comparably to elsewhere in the world? No. Yea, and you can't jobs or friends elsewhere. Close to an east coast resort, which suffers from the same drawbacks.

Yeah you're right. But there aren't many places in the world where you can be relatively close to surf and skiing at the same time.

we get enjoyable stuff during the summer. hurricanes toward the end of summer and it gets good in winter and you can ski. not as good as somewhere else on the planet but i'll take it.

It's not flat all the time. Last summer was pretty fun, and this was yesterday

south jersey apparently, I wasn't there and I missed out so bad.

That's not every day in the winter, but, it does get really good here.

Yeah, the west coast is probably more consistent and better, I'm not gonna argue it's not. But I'll take what I can get.

Probably gonna go to this quiksilver outlet like 45 minutes from me to see if their xs wetsuits actually fit. Got some black friday deals on resin and glass and 5mm lobster claw gloves. All I need is the right blank and a a wetsuit and it'll be winter surf time.

when NE is good, its world class. its worth the wait. Id rather be surfing empty 33 degree barrels than be getting it anywhere else in the world. Ive surfed waves all over the planet, and nothing compares to getting great waves close to home on something that people overlook everyday. as to the wetsuit question..ripcurl by far runs the slimmest, good luck

The quiksilver xs fit well, except the thing you pull over your head was like impossible. Other than that it was fine. The small was looser everywhere and I don't think the seal around the neck would keep water out. A duckdive or falling would probably fill me with cold water. I tried on 4/3 though, that's all they had. Maybe a 5/4 would be tighter and a small would work and make xs too tight? Or maybe an xs in 5/4 would get looser as I used it.

Anybody in central jersey?

I am flattered that you like my icon but it is really confusing and i would appreciate it if you found something else to use...

this summer was my first time surfing and i absolutely loved it. i cant wait to go back to hawaii this spring and do it some more. i have found a lot of awesome short movies/edits on vimeo that are available for download.

The one thing I would say is to go with tighter rather than looser because when it gets really cold you want no part of a baggy wetsuit that can't warm up because there's too much water in it. The hoods are going to be hard to get on, but that's good because then it won't fill up either when duckdiving, and you just get used to it.

And try on a bunch of brands, don't just get stuck on quik, try to find one that fits perfectly before you invest, they aren't cheap to replace

got a 3/2 one of these on the way from black friday deals. finally will have a nice 3/2 instead of one I got for 40 bucks with a hole near the bottom of the spine zipper.

Yeah I've gotta go around and try more when the semester ends, and I've gotta shape myself a board more suited for winter. It was a quiksilver store, so they only had their stuff.

I see somebody put up all the JJF edits. He's so good, I don't even...

A lot of what you could want in a single picture..

Also my wetty has been shredded up lots of holes everywhere was thinking maybe time to get a new one, 3/2. Anyone have one they would recommend? I have an O'neill physcofreak and it was really good but just seeing if there are any you guys would recommend.

I don't know if there is one. There's forums like on surfer mag, swellinfo and stuff like that. But there's probably not a forum mostly made of kids who chuck 360s all day. I can't even make a good comparison between NS and a surf forum.
