where do you guys surf? what kind of board do you have? favorite size wave? I have a 5'10" 5 star fish. I surf in new hampshire, usually hampton. my favorite size wave is 1-2+ overhead because its big enough that you can get decent speed and still have fun but its not too big that its absolute shit to paddle out.

A kennedy surfboard I got from the shop when I was out there like 6 years ago. Just a shotboard, nothin too fancy.

And I haven't been since the spring honestly. I hit venice and the areas around a little bit in april. Only got a couple weeks in though.

I don't go often enough anymore and I'm living in way upstate ny

I surf in maine. usually york. i have a channel islands 5'8" . i think my favorite wave is probably around head high. nice thread

I started surfing a couple of years ago so I'm not great but getting better.

I ride mostly a 5'10" fish and also have a 6'4" shortboard that I use for bigger days or heavier waves.

NJ w'sup. I'm looking to get a modfish of sorts, obviously 2 or 4 fin. waves in the spring and summer here are mushy and small. I also really want to try an alaia

Central jersey. Right now I've only got one board, 6'4" thruster shaped by chris chaize, a local shaper in jersey. But it's too much foam for me. It's like 22" wide and quite thick, more of an oldschool template I think. I weigh only 120lbs though, to it pushes me around. It definitely floats in crappy small waves and paddles well, but I'm looking to buy a retro fish or some type of fish. 2 or 4 fins, and much shorter.

I wish I could get into it more, I have gone a few times in Costa Rica, and it is the only sport I have tried that is as fun as skiing, IMO.

I think at this point it is more fun than skiing for me. I mean the best day of skiing is more fun just because I am way better at skiing, but an average day surfing beats an average day skiing for me.

I surf at Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA or Egypt Beach in Scituate, MA or Easton Beach in RI. I ride a 7'2 NSP but getting a shortboard or a fish next spring.

Oh and biggest wave I've surfed on was prob head to overhead but they were insanely clean so yeah probably that because it was one of the most fun days of my life.

yea i agree. id rather go skiing if theres fresh powder, but if its a choice between a normal day skiing and surfing, id go surfing. a crappy day skiing isnt fun, but surfing crap waves is still fun.

I surf Hampton as well, sometimes Geness beach which is just a couple miles north on the same road and a million times better. Shred a 10 foot longboard shaped in Cali in like 1965, its sick, and sometimes my bros NSP fish.

Only been 7-8 times to York beach, ME, pretty close to home and just borrowed gear, hard as fuck but I had fun. Hoping to have enough cash soon to get my own stuff

I got a beat up 6'0" shortboard and I surf the wall pretty frequently. Best waves I ever had were head high pumping barrels at s turns in NC. So fast and sketchy but the rewards were epic.

Any day surfing is good. You'll aways get one good wave that makes that session awesome. And that's another thing I want to get, a longboard. Nose riding and deck walking looks sick.

How is it there. I really have only surfed the east coat a couple times. One with ding chavez in myrtle area with hurricane swell. I hate dirty jerz so i avoided going there.

I'm going to be in nh near north conway. Hampton is only 2 hours ish away.

Just wondering how it is generally?

Same with ME. Anyone got any ideas? This will be the closest I've lived to the ocean on the east coast. I don't mind an hour and a half-2 hour drive to get some surfing in here or there.

I totally wan't even thinking about nh or maine and surfing. They've always been too far away

If the waves are pretty good, and theres even a little offshore, its really good at jeness. Whenever its chest+ and big offshore its usually barreling. I would definately recommend it. even if the winds a little off its still good.

i surf all over NE, logged my 100th session this year last thursday down in RI, i have a pretty big quiver of boards, but my go to is a 6'0 x 19 x 2.35, right now ive been mainly riding superbrands because theyve given me the best team deal so far.

yo man, I live in york! let me know when you're in the area this summer and i'm down to surf!

I wish but they are really not. It pretty much always closes out except at the far end and that only gives you a pretty short wave until it closes on one coming the other way.

It is a lot of fun on big days but the main reason i surf here is the good waves are super crowded on weekends.

I learned how to surf this fall. I'm picking it up, but it's hard to progress when you don't really have any friends who surf. Anybody here surf the oregon coast much?

to all of you dudes that surf york, have you guys surfed short sands when its real good? i got it earlier in november when it was a few feet overhead. it makes this crazy mutant wedge, its awesome. for video footage check out getinthevan.com and look under "van rides" and look at the hurricane footage of it. it can get real good. http://www.getinthevan.com/vanrides2.html "Last line of defense" has it working pretty well. cruise that website too, NE surfing at its finest.

6'0" Mt Woodgee. Mainly surf highway 45, stent road would be my spot of choice. Anyone here surfed in NZ?

Favourite overseas spot would have to be Tofino, surfing while it was snowing was incredible.

do you usually surf south island in the winter then? or in washington?

Tofino is a great place! I love it and plan to move there one day.

i have an aloha 6'8 swallow tail shortboard, absolutely love it. favorite wave is probs 1 foot overhead, nice and glassy. surf at nantasket beach.
