Surface Watch Life?

sorry for all the threads but how are the surface watch lifes? i would use them for mostly park and maybe a little bit all mountain but they would be mounted true center. im pretty small, so are they soft or stiff? someone fill me in on these skis
 
I have a pair of 07/08 watchlifes and I love them. They are stiff but it makes them super poppy and really fun on jumps. They don't butter the best but you still can flex em a bit. I'd get 173's if I were you, they are long (I rock 183's) but that makes them rail, really really fun jump skis.

Skied knee high pow at wolf creek this year too and they were way fun, width is good if you are mainly a park skier who sometimes gets a little bit of morning pow.

Mine are mounted at recommended, I was told from josh at jibij that unless you do 100% park to mount them at recommended. My slay everywhere.
 
ok thanks. how stiff would they be compared to, say, 06-07 head mojo 80s? cause those are what i ride for everything now and they are really stiff. and also i might have a second ski for all mountain and this would be my center mount all-park ski. does it function well for all park?

another thing, i probably have to get 163s cause im around 5' 4".
 
they are a super fun ski. stiffer in the tails and softer in the noses. they are very poppy and light. i thought they were a blast to butter around on, very easy to do nose butters. they destroy the park but i am pretty sure they were designed with skiing more all mountain instead, regardless i never took them out of the park. they are a super fun ski and you would have alot of fun on. i was riding the 183s as well, they might be a little on the bigger side for you though.
 
im at -1 from center which i think is +2 from rec, and they do the mountain just fine. and yea, whatever everyone else has said so far. im on 183's
 
so you like how they are buttery in the nose and stiff in the tails? ok cause my skis now are really stiff throughout... good to know they function as a park ski well. ive seen a couple park rats on my home mountain riding them.
 
so i was searching around the forums and i saw a lot of mixed stuff and some good points.

The durabiitys good right? i heard a few people say it wasnt

does anyone know where the recommended mount point is? will it mess up the ski (i.e. intended sidecut and all) if you mount center or -1? and as a general question, does -1 still work well for mostly park?
 
last year the 06/07 watchlife didnt have that great of a topsheet and chipped hardcore (at least mine did). that problem was fixed for the 07/08 watchlife.
 
on the 07.08 the base of the letters at "made in austria" was the center and the arrow indicator on the side of the ski is the recommended. i made at -1 back of the made in austria/center point and the skis kill it everywhere.
 
well i dont have the ski so i cant see where the arrow is... is it at like -3 or what?

and back to my other question: do they work good on rails or are they more of a big jump/pipe ski?

 
ok -1 sounds good too. and i imagine that -1 isnt going to make any difference in the park versus center, right? still good for my all park ski?
 
well do you have more then one pair of skis? you live in colorado so say one for pow/mountain? im assuming you do because you're asking for this as an all park ski. if thats the case just mount at center where the base of the letters are at "made in austria" i mounted at -1 because im on the east coast, i do park and -1 allows me to go outside the park when i feel like it. -1 works fine, but im just saying if these are going to be a devoted park ski because you all ready have a mountain/pow ski then just mount these center.
 
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if Surface measures short or long or normal. For example, K2 measures the wrong side of the ski so a 179 is really like a 182. Are the 173 (183) surfaces exactly 173 (183) or are they short/long?
