are sick

anyone know that song that is playin on the home page??

id so be down for rockin that while skiin...

wow I really expected this to be saying surface is gay and shit considering the creator of the thread's name is 9thward (but spelt different)

surface is tight

they will prolly be my next ski purchase!!!

but so is ninthward...but if they dont get there act togather theyr not gonna have a company much longer so yea...

prolly goin wit surface next year

Surface is the most unique and original new company I've ever seen. I really believe that if people recognize this and buy their awsome skis, they can maked a truly remarkable group expand in the ski world, which is definately something we want, considering how innovative they are.

Imagine if people said "Armada...new company...nah I'll stick to Salomons." That corperation would never be how it is today. They have sent riders around the world, sponsored events and brought happnyness and tranquil across the ski world. They are the true success story of the new guys.

Please, make this dream come true again with Surface. I sure as hell want it. You can't deny it would be sick as hell to have an artsy/core/whateveryouwanttocalit company in the industry with as much money and recognition as Armada.

No, they didnt make me say this. I believed this for a long time. If you even searchbar the original thread announcing Surface skis, you will find a post by me that is very similar.

i dont understand why people keep saying this... they have two skis out that arent revolutionary in any respects. i dont see what seperates surface from the rest of the pack... can someone explain this to me???

i dont mean to compare companies, but the most unique new ski brand in my opinion would be moment. next years line up is stacked with unique skis. and theyve got a shit load of selection, a ski for any kind of riding.

Their outlook on the sport, they artistic direction, their overall approach to everything. I love it, as do many others. How many ski companies have had such a professional ski on the market in their second year?

No hate on Moment but I still think Surface has had a faster progression. Plus I mean, deny it all you want, but graphics matter. They display the company's style. Moment has chinese dragons and things of that nature. I'd expect the same graphics on Wal-Mart boards, or at least thats what first comes to mind. If you're picky about style and looks like me, it makes a huge different. Face it, you gotta look good on the slopes.

Perhaps Surface release 2 models (a 3rd one on the way) because they wanted to make 2 great sticks that everyone would love. Armada started with 2 models. Both were great skis. Quantity isnt everything. I see how Moment wants to make sticks to suit everyone's needs and I respect that, but they're just not my style. I really hate to talk shit but I just cant help but think of new companies to all be the same. Moment, Fat-y-pus, Kingswood or whatever they're called.

When I first saw Surface I thought "whoa, is this a new branch of an already successful corperation?" That was my first impression. Their softgoods are craftily arranged. Not just a logo silkscreened on a shirt. they turn it into an actual art. They take unique approaches to their designs. If they can jump to that level in just their 2nd year in production, imagine what they will do for the ski world when they become more successful. How many companies have pinstripe patches with little poetic scraps on them. how may companies have a shirt with a 3 x 5 logo silkscreened and nothing else?

They definately have what it takes to make some sick stuff, I put them on a whole different level than any other company. They progressed so fast. I truly believe in them and they have the perfect ingredients for success. This is why I chose them. All they need is some support from the ski world.

They deserve it.

Amen.

The only problem with Surface is that when I try to buy anything from their website all I get is this.

404 Not Found

The requested URL /store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=229 does not exist.

Not overly professional. Unless it's just me.

Christ, Landis. You're really repping your company.

I'm not sure if joining Surface has done yo good or bad, but I respect you, so I won't hate on you.

was jsuit about to say the same thing. Surface looks like a ski company but in my opinion, skis are skis. yes theres different shapes, sizes, flex, materials, graphics and durability but in the end there just skis. people hate on companies that have certain images put on them such as ninthward because there gangster and now some people are hating on surface for being emo.

I dont know about anyone else, but im not going to buy a company's product just because they say there artsy and original or if they say there gangster and it'll make you 10 times more thuggin. I buy a companies skis because of what they actually ride like. If a company is new and they have sick graphics and seem more or less "different and sophisticated" company, that will notmake me want to buy there product anymore then a pair of salomons. In the end, skis are skis. Buy what feel good to ride on, not what people hype about.

Damn. You know, that's what I was sort of trying to say, but didn't know how to say it.

But Tanaka has really changed now (judging by those last 2 posts) since joining Surface, or maybe trying a little too hard to make people buy from them. Each company has its time, and Surface's will come.

hahaha thats exactly how i feel about surface

theres just a few things that get on my nerves about surface, but i'll save that for a blog entry.

to each his own.

I honestly dont see anything special about Surface other than people overhyping the fuck out of them. Armadas or 4frnts are the way to go. I like what Moment is doing more than Surface, because they are doing something new (square tips) instead of just trying to bite off the artsy snowboard industry and bringing it to skiing.

And seriously Tanaka, you are trying WAY to hard. If you really want to rep their skis and get people to buy them, start winning contests and filming and putting together a progressive video segment, not just stale ass shit that any NS'er can probably do. People arent on your nuts that bad that they will buy Surface just because you ride them....haha

i agree with you that there overhyped but head has had square tips for quite a while now...and square tips arent really an advantage because square = points = poke = hurt

for all u claiming there emo, and if you know MALONE, you should know that malone is not emo in any which way, yet he still rides surfaces, why? because they kick ass!

theyr such a legit company tho...

thats what the world of freestyle/freeride skiing needs nowadays

im waitin for them to get theyr name out there tho then theyr gonna be pretty insane!!!

Dude what are you talking about. I have felt this way about surface since I first saw them. Theres proof in the site archives.

And yeah it may seem like I think people are on my nuts, but thats not how it is. Interperate my opinion any way you want. I still stand by it. Theres a reason why I cancelled my Armada application just to be on Surface. Im not juts advertising for them. The last thing I want is it be a mindless walking billboard. I wanted to join a company that I truly believed in, so that when I repped their skis I wouldn't be lying. When I said "Surface is the hottest shit since sliced bread", I actually believed it. I don't want to be that guy saying "brought to you by Carl's Jr."

But whatever, I'm done with this. We are going nowhere with this convo. Obviously some people dig it; some people don't. To each their own.

And my posts have changed because people are going to start incorperating me with Surface now, whether I like it or not. If I say something that offends someone, theres always going to be that guy out there saying "Surface has asshole shittalking team members blah blah blah slander slander slander I spend more time on NS then I do actually skiing." I dont want to talk shit. In fact Im done with it.

im leaving the site this winter anyway.

i have had the privelage to e able toride every ski available to the public next year and did not find one ski i liked more than my surfaces.... as someone in here said earlier skis are skis anybody will adapt to any ski its just personal preference! but i chose to support the one company rying to bring something new and different to the ski industry with a more artistic approach!

look at snowboarding any kid can walk into a shred shop and find a board that matches their own style personality and type of riding..skiing for the most part is pretty bland everything seems to look the same!

surface is one o the few small companies bringing something different! theyre quality is just as good as anybody on the market ANYBODY! theyre skis happen to compliment a LOT of peoples riding styles!

so what your saying is that a skis graphic completely changes the skis and how it rides? so i could take a salomon foil, press a surface graphic on it, and voile! i have a completly new inovative ski that the likes of the skiing community has never seen? Wrong. i just have a ski that's not innovative and not different from anyone else's foils. they jsut have a different graphic. Graphics mean shit.

i agree, but if the ski i want has HORRIBLE graphics, i wouldnt buy it....i know it sounds gay, and it probably is but its true.

i was just giving you a hard time

there a huge company now

they make an ok product

they have a good customer service for when stuff brakes (my spk boot)

i wasnt saying there a bad company i just dont like big huge companys id rather stay with a "core" company i guess

salomon just simply isnt the best ski ive ever ridden

I lost all hope in this thread when you are trying to tell us that Surface is better because they "have pinstripe patches with little poetic scraps on them". Who cares if you ware a "shirt with a 3 x 5 logo silkscreened"?

^This has absolutely nothing to do with what the company is supposed to do: make good skis. I like surface, but how have they progressed beyond moment (besides poetic scraps on their clothes)?

waste of time

I don't really see how people can call Surface emo. Honestly, is it because of the pants? Is tight pants synonymous with emo? Surface to me, is just about being yourself and not caring what other people think. Just do what makes you happy.

That emo thing with Surface makes me laugh everytime. Mike (owner) is so far from emo that it's silly. He's a dirtbag Alta skier if anything.

Just because a couple kids who ski on Surface wear tight pants everybody thinks the company is emo. It goes to show everyone's maturity level on this site.

Surface is straight up gangta fooo!!

no if you slap a new graphic on a foil its still a foam cored piece of shit!

my point is the skis surface currenty have to offer happen to compliment a lot of different skiers...

the watch life is a good all mountain do everything park pipe pow ski! the live life is a fat stiffer flex ski you can charge anything with! the lifew life two is your fat jib ski! granted they are missing some sizes and a few skis in their line!

if you can find a ski that works for your type of riding why not buy it from a smaller ski company trying to brig a new aspect to skiing that currently is not available!

rather it surface , moment , ninthward , bluehouse , faction , liberty ... it will only do the sport good!

i support surface because i like the more artistic ecclectic approach they take toward skiing!

it just so happens theyre skis are some of the best i have ever ridden ! the durability is definately there i have over 80 days on my watch lifes and over 100 on my live lifes and both are primo as can be!

it doesent hurt when i look at my feet on the chirlift and feel like i am supporting a company that will do more good for the sport that i have come to love so much than any corporation that has the money to produce and develope retarded amounts of skis every year!

and speaking of progression.... WHERE IS SURFACE'S ROCKERED SKI?

this year the face of progression in rockered skis, to bad Surface can't keep up.

And at only like 350 for a pair of watchlifes, I plan to support them for my next ski. Im going to sell my Ar6's at the end of this season, and keep my fks to mount on them.

You must be from Utah.

Thats Tahoe Tesse...pretty much the same thing as the Loch nest monster but much more vicious.

Theres more to a company than how good their skis are.

For example, Salomon makes horrible skis in my opinion, I would never spend money on them. I still think they are a great company because they support events and are very active in the ski community. I have respect for that company, I just don't like their skis.

Besides, Surface makes some VERY sick sticks. Don't act like they're garage-pressed pieces of shit.

And can someone please answer why Surface makes good skis and not keep ignoring the question completely, since we already covered the image cause and effect with Ninthward 100 times.

Thank You
