Their outlook on the sport, they artistic direction, their overall approach to everything. I love it, as do many others. How many ski companies have had such a professional ski on the market in their second year?
No hate on Moment but I still think Surface has had a faster progression. Plus I mean, deny it all you want, but graphics matter. They display the company's style. Moment has chinese dragons and things of that nature. I'd expect the same graphics on Wal-Mart boards, or at least thats what first comes to mind. If you're picky about style and looks like me, it makes a huge different. Face it, you gotta look good on the slopes.
Perhaps Surface release 2 models (a 3rd one on the way) because they wanted to make 2 great sticks that everyone would love. Armada started with 2 models. Both were great skis. Quantity isnt everything. I see how Moment wants to make sticks to suit everyone's needs and I respect that, but they're just not my style. I really hate to talk shit but I just cant help but think of new companies to all be the same. Moment, Fat-y-pus, Kingswood or whatever they're called.
When I first saw Surface I thought "whoa, is this a new branch of an already successful corperation?" That was my first impression. Their softgoods are craftily arranged. Not just a logo silkscreened on a shirt. they turn it into an actual art. They take unique approaches to their designs. If they can jump to that level in just their 2nd year in production, imagine what they will do for the ski world when they become more successful. How many companies have pinstripe patches with little poetic scraps on them. how may companies have a shirt with a 3 x 5 logo silkscreened and nothing else?
They definately have what it takes to make some sick stuff, I put them on a whole different level than any other company. They progressed so fast. I truly believe in them and they have the perfect ingredients for success. This is why I chose them. All they need is some support from the ski world.
They deserve it.
