As some of you have noticed, we haven't chosen a winner for this year's "Photos not Firearms" contest. We only received two submissions the first time around, so we're going to give you guys another chance. But this time, even if we only get one entry and it really, really sucks, we're still going to give away a pair of Watch Lifes and a softgood kit of some kind. So whether you're armed with a disposable camera, a Holga, or a DSLR, get out there and fire away. Email up to two of your favorite shots to surface.life@gmail.com. The deadline is August 4, and a winner will be announced on August 5.

 
Does it have to be photos of people during road rage instances or is it just our favorite photos?
 
can we get more clarification on the theme of this contest.

pictures of what exactly? things you'd shoot if you had a gun?
 
I think you guys are making this harder than it really is. Quit thinking so much and go shoot some photos of anything you like. Send them in and see what happens. I went out today and shot some city life with my Holga and am sending those to Surface. Who knows?

I doubt there are "guidelines" to this contest... other than the deadline is August 4th

Speaking of deadlines, I don't think we have enough time to ask so many questions.

i dont think we're making it harder than it is, we are just making sure we send in something that will count, it's really a simple question and a yes/no answer

Can the photo be of anything?
 
i'm sending in pictures of biggems and cash (puppies) then wininng me those skis! don't bother guys...
 
Just one account my igloo dwelling friend. I can't handle this site long enough for one name, let alone two.

 
I got booted by security after my first attempt at a photo, next time I think I'll try it at some spot that isn't a world landmark. I only have one surface sticker left, so if I get booted again I am out of ideas.
 
Use chalk to graffitti it! they can't do anything to you since it comes off when it rains.

They will get pissed off though. I was drawing a mural on my highschool bunker and they got all butthurt even though I was using crayola chalk. Some people just don't understand the difference between art and vandalism...
 
I wasn't going to enter until I realized that if I want to go to IF3 this year, I can't afford skis. I'm excited to see the other entries. Hopefully this contest works out better than the first round.
 
so next time i check this i guess the winner will have been chosen, i seriously doubt it will be but i'd be so stoked if it was me. i look forward to seeing the winning pictures though.
 
Something tells me that they've already sent a messege to the winner, and are just waiting for a response that it is ok to use his/her photo in a press release...
 
Hang tight for just a little longer. We are doing the official press release very soon.

I will have you know that we received some super good photography and it was very difficult to choose a winner. With that being said, thank you for the submissions - we have had a good time going through the images.

So my friend and I were the only people who entered last time? Okay, fair enough. It's still pretty fucking weak you guys didn't respond to ANY of my many e-mails/messages. Glad it worked out for you this time, I sure as hell wasn't participating.
