Their presence has been a bit weird on ig, but its good to see the site back up.

Hopefully they get enough support to grow and stick around for awhile. nice to see they're trying instead of folding like revision and others.

it wants a password to access the store (or anything really)...?

didnt they say some weird shit on instagram as they fell off too? confusing

Yes! Pumped. Huge fan they've always made solid skis at good price points. LOVE my outsiders such a fun ski to mess on once and a while. I would buy the daily in a heartbeat if they made it in a 189 that had that 110 waste not 120

so happy they are back, outsiders will remain to be the raddest ski ever

Dude easily most fun ski i've ever had. Hold a pretty good edge surprisingly given the crazy rocker profile

Does anyone know anything about the new blanks? Also why is the Odyssey only in 173cm?

Also curious about the new park blanks. What's the flex like on them?

the dimensions are the same as last year so im guessing nothing changed except the topsheet and sintered base. so yeah like 8/10 stiff and monster carvers

I heard last version of the Blanks weren't that durable. Do you think its worth the risk?

idk, surface's durability seems to be hit or miss. ive put like 70 park days in on my 2016 blanks and theyre still holding up like mad, one edge crack. my outsiders are also far and away the most durable skis ive ever ridden its ridiculous. i see people at brighton on one lifes from like 2013 still going hard, but i also see people on here saying their surfaces busted in like a month. 🤷

Are you saying they changed to sintered base from extruded or they changed from sintered to extruded? Couldn't find this info on their site.

Also I'm guessing "monster carvers" means they're a good carving ski?

extruded to sintered (as far as i can tell) and yes

Also this is what the guys at Surface Skis said was new about this version of the blanks: "Better top sheet material and Sintered die cut bases ( instead of extruded)"

nice nice nice nice nice. sintered bases are harder and hold wax longer than extruded, and generally faster even without wax. idk like the chemical or processing differences beyond what sintering and extruding is. sintered bases are (as far as i know) always solid color, so bases with graphics are extruded bases. the exception is stuff like the logos underfoot and on the tip and tail are cut out and white base material is slapped in. also a better topsheet is gonna be a very good thing for those skis. mine have taken a beating

I like the design of surface but I feel like there skis snap a ton from what I have heard but i don’t know maybe they upped there flex game

The stiffest pair of skis I have ever felt is the surface odyssey, I can barely bend them with all of my weight pushing down.

damn, I assume you didn't like them? The only ski I've had is the Atomic Infamous and those are pretty soft so I don't know if I'll like a really stiff ski

I have no experience on surface park skis, just powder skis. I don't have much time on odysseys yet, but they are certainly not a normal ski

What 's a Sintered Base? Why is it better?

To add to what Dunderflip said:

The base material to make sintered bases is compressed together as oppose to extruded where its melted together.

Compression leaves more "pores" for the wax to sit it.

Sintered bases can have graphics (its a clear base over the graphic).

Last thing extruded bases are easier to repair.

As mentionned above sintered perform better on all snow types. Extruded is slow on wet snow

im not that heavy and i ride the outsiders. super stiff but idk if i will ever ride a soft ski again. they are the most fun things i had ever rode and i would expect the odysseys to be similar to the outsider in that way.

Also very hyped that blanks have been upgraded to sintered bases and a better topsheet. Getting some of those for sure and for 350 that is so good. Surface came back the right way for sure

this is the weirdest ski company that has been around for longer than 30 seconds. apparently they can't be bothered to actually write anything about the skis on their website... and they give you this little blurb when you asked directly, i assume? "better top sheet material?" oh that sounds awesome dude please take my money

Yeah I do admit that it was a pretty odd response. I expected them to try and sell the ski to me when I asked "How has this version of the blanks changed from the previous model"

Fuck yeah was hoping they'd stick around. I've had New Life's and currently ride live lifes as my touring ski. Super fun stuff chargers with a ton of rocker

A friend of mine was sponsored by Surface europe some time back. he didn't like his park blanks at all. they didn't work for rails, he usually skied the auburn for rails i think
