A couple days ago me and some mates in the university surf club put on a public night surf event. Hired some light towers and put them on the pier. Had a little competition. Was heaps of fun

Cool. I would never have the patience for a sport like surfing. Pro surfers spend their entire lives in the ocean. You might spend 10 hrs bobbing around only to surf waves for a couple minutes cumulatively. And by the time in your surfing career that you see a great white while out there paddling, you should know that whitey was probably the 500th great white that has passed within 10 feet of you on your surfboard. You just didnt know it. Drone cameras for the last few yrs have been showing great whites literally all over the place where people swim and surfers surf.

i could never spend 10 hrs a day bobbing up and down knowing that a white shark has probably drifted right underneath me at some point during the day.

i have alot of respect for surfers, but i never would have the stomach for it.

Nah but I wanna save up for a soft top and a good wet suit or dry suit and booties and learn to surf in the Great Lakes

not everywhere you surf has sharks let alone great whites?

Surfing in the dark or low light periods like that photo is a great way to get bit by sharks. I'd surf in the US (except Florida) for sure but zero percent chance in Australia.

Edit: and this is why

The search bar is dogshit. You need to search your category on Google and then add "newschoolers" to the query. Idk why NS doesn't just add Google as their search engine. Shit even Bing would be better.
