You stay up for 16 hours

He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.

He doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.

He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.

He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.

He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.

He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.

He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.

He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.

He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.

He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.

He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.

He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.

He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.

He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.

They did sign up for it, but the way i see it, doesn't matter if you support the war or not, you gotta support our soldiers. Its not their fault this whole thing started, they just have to be out there fighting the war.

in my opinion you can think whatever you want to about the war ill respect your opinion whether you think we should completely pull out or nuke iraq, think whatever you want to

but you sure as hell better support the troops out there

Better?

^that's better. and this is all true. i say oppose the war, but support the troops. i don't care how much you hate the war, not many of us do. but you have to support the troops, i'm not sure how many of them agree with the war either. but the fact that they're out there throwing themselves in front of danger for our sake is something we all need to cherish and applaud. it's like vietnam all over again. those troops were not supported at all and were unfortunately treated like dirt. that should have never happened, and let's try not to let it happen again.

"You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends."

who does that?

Women arent really allowed to fight on the front line, so yeah i think he is pretty accurate.

oh and also this one isnt right

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and

go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

i would really say that the US fighting a war in Iraq is protecting our rights.

After reading that shit a little more I have found a lot of shit I don't agree with. I support the troops to the point that I don't want to see them dead or injored and I want them to get home safe.

But bitching about their choices to the rest of us is fucking retarded. They signed up to do this. I know people that have died at work or been seriously injured and you don't see a support the rough necks shit.

I know that I am going to get torn apart for saying this but I have to think some of you agree with me.

I don't care if they joined when there was no war what did they think they were going to do in the army? I just think that instead of supporting the troops blindly you should have to know about political issues in the world. Then I can guarantee that only a small portion of people would join the armed forces knowing what is going on.

I'm sure that that's what many of us mean in supporting the troops - the people in here, and in other threads, who have argued against your second point are, in my eyes, defending their right to come home alive and uninjured and not much more than that. So ya, most of us agree with you but haven't gone into the detail that you did with the second part of your post.

seriously, do you have to be fricking politically correct every time. no body cares.

the point is that people dont know the whole story. they only see what the bias liberal media puts out. which is bullshit. try talking to someone that has served in iraq, the people are happy to see them, the people make dinners for them out of what little they have to eat. they give them candles and presents. to them, thats everything, thats giving there home to the soldiers. anything you see on the media is a very small percentage of whats going on in iraq. sure, its a shame 2700 soldiers have died. but really, is that a lot for a war that has been going on for how long? no. it isnt. i know this because i have and uncle and a cousin that are in iraq right now. and they see all the progress that is being made and the happiness of the Iraqi people. a lot of the riots you see on tv dont even have to do with the war. so why dont you actually talk to someone that has been in iraq and served for his country and see how they feel about the war and when they come home and see people saying crap about them and saying they shouldnt even be there.

really though, who doesn't 'support' the troops (whatever the hell that means)? not just because you'd have to be a prick, but mostly because of the ostracism you'd endure.

support the troops isn't some independent cause, and it's definitely not something that's unique among certain people.

those who remain most adamant about 'supporting' the troops are invariably those most adamant about supporting this war. do a search on support the troops in this forum and you'll find threads that always preface with "so if you don't support this war, you MUST support out troops!"

propaganda takes a myriad of forms.

I have several buddies in Iraq. Whoever told you they wanted them there was full of shit. 70,000 dead! a small portion of people might like the solgiers living next to the base and stuff but wanting them there is a insane point.

I had a buddy named Richard Viedorfer. Great kid kind of lost on what he was going to do after high school so he joined the marines. He has told me some absolutely horrible stories. Little kids blown apart, buddies dieing in the same hummer. You know absolutely nothing and saying that the all media is liberal is insane. They are reporting the facts and you cant deal with it.

This war is the worst crime America has ever committed and with people like you supporting it you are shaming this country.

me too...my lil brother is over there at the moment on his second tour and really hating life at the moment. hes sick of being ambushed, with no help from the fuckin iraqs of course. no one wants to be over there. they do realize its their job, but they sure as hell dont belive in the reasons as to why this war was started.

dont blame the troops, blame bush and his shithole of an administration.

i agree, bby being there we are just pissing them off more, muslims all over the world start to hate cuz in thier minds we are digging into other peeps buisness and we are all seen as christians who have no right on thier holly land, and better yet the right to protect thier land. Then they get pissed off even more when there are woman soliders defending them.       Basically we neeed to kick liek 50% of the muslim world's ass...or pull out really fast in some kinda of miracle good way.  Cuz all these fucking crazy ass fucks that are super into thier religion and not into anything else and they are getting pissed and will fight back even after we are gone.  Its a loose loose situation.....but we do need to support our troops there, and make sure they have what they need.

And let me say that I AM DEFINETELY NOT A FULL BUSH SUPPORTER. I am not very happy with the way Bush has run our country, and I think a new president with different ideas will help very much.

I think that bush is a dumbass and should not be sending people out there, I think the war is stupid and should be stoped, and I think all the people should come back, but we'll they are out there I hope they are safe and all come back in one peice.

im from canada, and I think that none of the canadian troops should have been sent out, but I still hope none get hurt. I guess I should say no more..

ehh, it' kinda bull shit... i mean i support the troops and hope they come home safely, but im against the assult on iraq, and the troops have it a lot better than millions of standard citizens in other countries (like iraq). and for the record, i've never seen anyone wear a "don't support the toops" t-shirt, i've seen bring our troops home, an one that had (monkey)>(W)
