Superunknown VI Finalists Announced

only watched a few, but holy afterbang. when did skiing backseat become good?

i like Martin Boulais best so far, mostly because it had fun music. not that i'm any good at all, but these seem the same as last year, and the year before.

Good luck Berman. Its gonna be hard to pick a winner. The skill level in all of these edits is insane. I like Martin Bullet. He brings something different and unique to the table. The spaniard is sick too. Creative, and can spin both ways on big jumps. I would say that Chris Laker probably has the most potential of anyone to be a great Level 1 rider. To get that good, at that age, and on that tiny park is pretty remarkable. Not sure if his style is refined enough yet to look good in slow-mo HD shots. But then again, Michael Clark had pretty janky style when he was picked, and look at him now. I'm sure even if he doesn't win, Level 1 will tap him for a shoot at some point down the road. And I completely agree with everyone about how similar a lot of the edits are. There can only be one T-Wall and one Harlaut. We like to see something NEW and DIFFERENT.

am I the only one who thinks Ricky Hess FTW?

he's got my completely unbiased vote after watching all the vids.

lots of talent out of quebec as usual, and Paul Beregeron killed it.

can whoever posted about laker not ready fora level 1 park shoot please explaim to me what you dont see in him

I agree.
Most of the finalists are incredibly talented, but that's not the point anymore. No TW or HH imitator will ever be better than the actual TW or HH, plus if their only power is doing 1000 differents tricks, they are not special since the skiing world is full of riders that can do 1000 tricks and stomp them. If not today, maybe tomorrow.
The important thing is to have something new, to add a different and personal style to the skiing world. That's what Corey, Clarke and Tom did, even Brogan with his exhagerated afterbang. And I think that Luka is the one that has a new&fresh personal style with the talent to learn and progress.
A part from that, trickwise, I think that Chris Laker is a machine, reminds me of Kenworthy. Seem to be able to do all the tricks in the game and learn any new ones in no time, and that's amazing (plus he's only 15), but I don't think his style adds anything new to the sport.

idk how people are saying compton.

sick skier, sick entry, but incase you havnt noticed the level 1 park shoots are huge jumps, and huge rails.

compton's best jump was a shifty 5, and all of his best rail tricks were on pretty basic boxes and rails

mcchess and paulb really stood out to me.

I'd have to give it to paul though. I think level 1 has so many kids who kill urban (wallisch, ahmet, will etc) that jumps should be looked at a little more then rails for this years competition. And i love paul's style on jumps

paul b slayssss.

So what if level1 doesnt need another park rat, the more the merrier right? I mean, level1 kinda lost out on Martini, theres a kid with some new shit.. but from the selection, I say go with paul b.. even tho he is basically another casabon, the kid slays.

If you guys havent noticed, most of you go insane when you see edits with multiple riders (ex. casabon + harlaut edit) so why complain if theres just more kids that throw down?

I say give paul B a chance, considering hes got some of the sickest style/skills out of the whole list.

Laker is too young... maybe once he grows into some style he'll be on it, but as of now, hes just not ready.

the cannon box was sweet, but that was about it, i didnt see him spin onto anything urban at all.

im just saying if you're going to rely on your rails, you should probably destroy rails way harder than everyone else who entered and can jump as well.

luczkow should deff win it. Level 1 already has the most amazing park skiers right now and although it would be dope to see some one like Paul B or Chris Laker win, Luczkow straight up shreds in the pow. If you gave this kid a sponsor and a huge ski trip I guarantee you he would put out some dope shots. My other argument is that Level 1 seems to have a younger target audience because of all the sick park riders it has, with Luczkow; Level 1 will bring back pow skiing to the younger audience cause it seems like the progression of skiing has counted out pow and bc skiing. Before watching this edit I was a true park rat, all I did was ski park. But now after watching Luczkow Im soo syked on skiing. Berman do whats right for the progression of the sport and pick Luczkow.

how would picking a park rider be wrong for the sport? there are some people who kill it. while i think matt is a great rider, i dont find him very entertaining to watch, his style is more laid back, instead of the aggressive big mountain that keeps you on the edge of your seat, it just gets boring after a while.

He's ok but when you compare him to steele, clarke, or wiley he's really not up to their level of riding, both in the BC and park.

GET BOXES OUT OF YOUR VIDEOS PEOPLE
your in one of the most ruthless video competitions of the year, watching 270s onto flat boxes is not impressive, take it to rails

I completely disagree, he is definitely to to their level in the BC, especially steele heh~

Oh and dont compare booters to natural hits... not even close to the same thing

Most annoying thing of these superunknowns were tricks on small boxes and small rails. Not saying they couldn't do it on a bigger feature, but they could have at least tried to film it, especially if they are from keystone.

I don't necessarily think that it'd be wrong for the sport but would shift it in a direction that would close the gap in between park skiers and big mountain guys. Im not saying its going to be like huge, but it'd for sure be a starting point. I love all the park skier entry's this year, Paul B kills it and Tmechesney(SP) got me really syked, and im deff not a huge big mountain guy either, i love the park and spend pretty much my whole 40 days a year in the park. I just really think Luckwotz will be good for the scence.

Here's the real deal man !!!!!!!

I check almost every video and I think Paul should win cuz he'S a real gangster, he'S seeling dope at the relais and hes hanging out with black people and musculation phenom big dave and he'S reaally good and the only other people that could win he's the chris the pussy laker but man , hes 15 years old, i dont think berman wanna hook up with him and his babysister so fuck laker and go with paul . Plus , this kid is friend of PHIL CASABON yeah yeah PHIL CASABON

message to all the super unknown entries : hit the gym all mother fucking skinnnnnnny boy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kieran nikula shoudl have been in the finals. type in his name on vimeo to see his edit, i will post it later

no, his vid was one of my faves. i liked will berman, paul bergeon(sp?), chris logan, timmy McC, luka, and kolby ward. and every edit has something that could be improved upon by the person.

Watch for Austin next year, kids gonna blow up. We didn't have time to travel or get any urbans filmed so we had to stick to our small, crappy park.

BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!BULLET!
FOR SURE! plus he has the coolest name.
and lol at warnicks afterbang

exactly. way better than a hesher. plus he didnt do anything extraordinary. mcchesney however had the best urban, holson was insane on BC booters and ill style, mcrae picked the best song, wyble has been slaying for years, laker (nuff said), i thought chris logan had a pro deal with rossi but hes insane, i dont even know the rest that i thought were dope thats just off the top of my head who was better
