Superunknown finalist announced

wel when you are 12-15 I guess it's ok cause really you are still growing up at that time (for most) and your mucles are definatly not the same as a 16-18 years olds

It's just saying it's lame for a girl to claim teh fatc that shes a girl....

im directing this to anyone else who is gona bash on age droppin

yes i put my age in my superunknown

yes it said 14

and yes i am now 15

i sent it out when i was 14 and the deadline for having the vids was on my birthday.

there we go.

but i dont see the problem with that.

I think age is relevant. If you are 12 or even 15, you have more time and room for progress than if you are 19 or 20. or 25!

does anyone else get sick of excuses of why such and such is lacking shit. im looking at so many stupid things in this thread like some of mikees comments about how brogan has fake steeze and should express himself, unless that was a joke, how do you decide if its fake? what if thats how he feels comfortable just because he isnt a hip indie kid? and some of your comments about martini as well.i just do not understand why people always have to try to change skiiers. if you would like to see something different done in skiing on a level that it will be noticed, people should go out and do it themselves and not tell people that their stuff is boring.

i think there should be a day where kids just ski naked and call it nonjudge day.

Everyone keeps asking "who's gonna be the next Tom Wallisch?" But honestly I'm not sure anyone in the comp is gonna be able to live up to that. Just look at his Superunknown edit last year and the edits/segs he's had since then.

Oh! Ill do it myself.

But in the mean time, it's hard to argue that Brogan's steeze doesn't look forced as fuck. When I showed my non skiing friends they LOL'ed. Im not against gangster skiing. Gangster 4 lyfe. But I'd rather watch kids ski as they feel comfortable rather than watch them try to look as G'ed out as possible, making everything they do look forced and unnatural. Now, I don't think that Brogan is totally bad. I like watching him ski and I think he has a lot of potential and a lot of style, it's just that it is covered over by his "try-hardness".

Nick I think is sick in a lot of ways too, but some of the shit he does is a little crazy in my books, a little whacko, a little unnessecary. But whatevs yo.

yea Brogan and BIg Ben!!!!!!!! Brogans edit was dope as hell and Ben's was from LAST year, if he didnt wreck his knee and had a chance to film for this he wouldve taken this shit

Im pretty sure Nick Martini has it in the bag.

"Superunknown V has proved to be the tightest competition since Mike Clarke edged out Ahmet Dadali and Mike Hornbeck to win Superunknown III."

We saw Ahmet and Hornbeck in REALTIME so maybe some of these guys who dont win could film with level 1 in a couple seasons. I know id like to see guys from ski block in a level 1 movie both Compton and Borland kill it on rails

martini's urban footage was/ his 30000% gnarlier then anything I've seen so far in my whole life...

and he his way techier on jumps then wallisch was last year.

I think Martini is/could be one of the greatest comp/ urban destroyer since DC after seing his edit.

Tom got the internet hype but I think martini might have a bigger hype from the peopl in the industrycause he's younger, already got some nice comp results won the jib academy, and slay urban harder then anyone else.

but thats martinis this year, have you seen walliischs this year? i can guarantee hes on a completely different level

wallish had the hype because of his steeze. martini is sick as fuck, but he just doesn't have much style on jumps. thats not something you can really learn/get better at.

you definitely can improve style on jumps. everybody does. they start out doing pencil 3's then start grabbing them then starting doing bigger spins with grabs and once they start doing tricks more and more it gets more stylie

I'm thinking brogan. Great trickery and steeze as shit. Martini in not that superukown... plus I don't really dig his style

yea dude you kill it. im 12 and YOU ARE so much better than me i can only a 720. sometimes 900. but that 630 on was like Wallisch stuff. GOOD JOB.

TO ELABORATE

Handrails hit from the outside, with a helmet and big jumps on, BIG NO NO

If you're hitting summer urban you really don't need your goggles and winter jacket, go for snow pants if you're really into it but for me if you can just look like a not skier when you're hitting urban it's just way sicker. Sometimes it's not even really that necessary during the wintertime i e late night session with goggles on your forehead.

I personally hated all of them. Martini actually skied for one day which was somewhat refreshing. This is Berman's competition though so I guess this style of skiing is what he is looking for. Good luck to all the entrants.

so if you use a helmet thats against the rules? that's freaking stupid. you cant say that people are hitting urban wrong because they protect their head from being split open on stairs and such. if you don't wear a helmet, cool. but don't rag on people for wearing one. thats just idiotic

i think its gay that people are saying hoos gonna be the next wallisch. its not about hoos going to be the next wallisch. everyone is their own individual skiier its not like when they entered the contest they were like comparing their edit to tom wallisches. newschoolers needs to collectively remove itself from tom wallisch's dick. its the next superunknown, not the next tom wallisch.

I can count the number of times he spun to the right on 0 hands. That's pretty weak. None of these videos are as good as Wallisch's edit last year.

He did destroy that Boulder rail as hard as anyone I've seen though.

It means some of the stuff he does just seems yucky and unflowy and not so cool, and in my opinion, doesn't need to be done. It might be fun, and so go for it... I guess! But I mean... fs630 out of a park rail ewwww. huck that shit wooooooooo. I mean if you can do it smooth and sick great, but it just seems unnessecary to put hucked tricks that aren't smooth or stylish or sick (imho), in your part or whatevs y' kno?

As to who I am...

I am the revolution, watch out.

hypocrite. you say that jon brogan has to much style, he makes every thing smooth. yet you say that martini is hucking things, saying that that is frowned on. should we not even hit rails? like some emo people on this site

you are misguided.

There was no hypocrisy. I never said jon brogan said too much style and made stuff too smooth. I said his style is forced as fuck. And Im saying that hucking stuff is not that great either, soo I don't see how that is saying that we should not hit rails?

superunkown isnt a video segment. most the riders struggle to get shots in time

as we should all agree, no one can be fully judged by the vid. that was teh rail at the time and he just threw down something that wasnt in already in his edit. learn to get over it and yourself pal

kkkkkk

true true

but still...

the video like represents what they do and what they think is cool and shit ye kno? and I dont think that shit is cool, so like I don't want to see it and stuff. and not to mention he chose it as his banger so he must of thought it was really fucking cool and shit.

don't worry though, I'm over it!

not sure why your all so uppity about hitting a bar from the outside when 99% of skiers are still doing stepons

maybe he did think it was cool? so what? i have yet to see your name on the superunknown finals list, and i will leave this challenge to all people, if you want to see something "cool" or "sick" go do it down something worthy and get it somehwere where everyone can see and be content. i dont even like nick martinis style that much but hes good as shit and did some things that most people dont down urban. at least hes putting down all his effort into what he thinks is worthy. im sure he could do all the shit you WANT him too but he doesnt have to do shit all foryou, especially seeing as this is a contest to get sponsors and make a start to making a living out of skiing, and you get that by either being semi tech with style or being super tech with not so much style. he did the second one pretty damn good. accept that most people arent going to do what you think is cool most of the time.
