Superunknown finalist announced

Oh and one question? There were like two videos with any BC action at all... where are the kids with the BC skills?

Well the problem is most people who qualify for Superunknown don't have access to helicopters and world-class back country, so it's kinda hard to distinguish who has skill and who spends 90% of their time in the park and is just comfortable on a pair of skis because the terrain isn't challenging enough. Unfortunately for a contest like this the judging has to be done primarily on urban and park.

Nick Martini wins because no one can own him at rails. Caron slayed it but did you SEE that urban, boy? Jesus monkeyfuck.

Yeah but all over the west any kid can find some pow and hit some cliffs inbounds. No doubt these kids hold it down, I would just like to see some kids who ski and film in the BC enter. I know that Berman wants park skiers because they are the ones who can slay his spring photoshoots. Ill probably try to enter next year but will probably try to send in all BC stuff and urban (claim alert).

i feel like people are overlooking this Caron fellow just because he doesn't force his shit nor does he make his skiing look hard, kid flowss. and slays.

the question is more, did he had the chance to ski a rail where it was possible?

bergeron is sick as fuck, too bad his video doesnt show what he can do...

martini, skilllzz , not sure about the steeze but definetely technical. loved the urban stuff

Oh and Antoine Caron has the best style out of anyone I have seen. You can tell hes a super layed back kid just from his style. So flowy and natural. Nick would be the pick but its too predictable and Berman might know that...

Martini had the most tech rail tricks by far, and I think the biggest spins, but Brogan has sooo much more style. Caron was sick too, definetly a good style. I honestly thought Compton's edit was sick to he owns switchups on basically any rail. I think I gotta go with Brogan though just cause he has way more style in the air than anyone else in this.

Brogan killed everything with style, martini also slayed everything and had those crazyass urban rail transfers, I cant choose!

Brogan Vs. Martini fo sho

URBANS HIT FROM THE OUTSIDE IN 2008 ??? Come on guys, this is not your promo video to get sponsored by your dad's hardware store, it's the fucking superunknown contest.

Huge props to Ben Morisette for doing the finals at such a young age. As some said before me, you probably won't win this year, but you'll definitely be a strong contender in the future.

Props to Caron for destroying rails like no other, had you had more jumps you would be the winner for sure.

Paul Bergeron, you should have filmed more this year, cause you would have owned everyone else by far.

In the end, Martini's probably gonna take it. Good style on jumps, solid urban.

those are all sick, not trying to sway the vote or anything but check this tidbit:

ben faturos filmed that edit LAST SEASON...havent seen his stuff from this season but throwing 450 on-360 sw up-pretz 270 out last year?? kids a gangsta

i.e: a handrail with stairs only on the right side of the rail, and building your jump on the left and hitting it from the same side. OUTSIDE the staircase if it can help.

top 5 no order martini, brogan, sean jordan, antoine caron, ben faturos but over all really good year for super unknown. Hope martini gets it though

Brogan straight up killed it as everyone expected. Nick the urban was ridiculous. I'm really glad to see compton in there, double fs switch up on urban whaatttt?. I feel it's gonna be a very close decision between Brogan and Martini.

I just think it looks awkward hitting a rail from outside the staricase. it's like hitting a rail with stairs. covered in snow.

in my opinion, it's what separates an inexperienced urban skier from an accomplished one.

charles is right yoooo...

but it depends on circumstance Id say... but its definitely a good rule of thumb./

some sick as rails in there eh! not much backcountry for those boys though. Brogan and martini are sick for sure. and that one kid near the end.

I'd rather not hit a rail then hit it from the non stair side I'll eiher lipslide it or slide left foot foward but I'm not gonna jump on an urban from the non staired side.... I guess It's just the way we do here in qc, we have our little urban etiquette we have to follow.

I've skied urban with antoine caron this year and wihout a doubt I'm gonna go out and say that edit dosnt give any justice to how talented the kid is on rails. I've seen him ski for the past 3 years and even when he was 3 apple high he would give me a run for my money in rail jams.

Same would apply with paul bergeron on jumps... kid is blowing minds..

As far as this contest winners, I think it should be martini in first cuase he's the only one who mixed everything in his edit he's clearly the best urban trickser in all of the field and his jumping skills are barely matched by anyone. He did travel a bunch to get these powder and urban shots and his powder stuff was pretty good for someone who is not form the west and prolly dosnt have acces to snowmobile to build kickers when he's out there.

Then my runner up would be ben faturos because he can definatly slay rails and have a good variety of tricks on jumps. The lack of urban and the fact that there is no new footage from him due to knew injury ( wich would have been prolly sickter then what he had last year) prolyl wont gonna help him.

the rest of the fields entries just lack a little bit of something and that extra special sauce that makes you say wow this is gonna win super unknow. major props to all of them. I enjoyed watching pretty much all theses entries.

brogan definatly have the steeze factor and rail technicality but I think he lacked big tricks on jumps.

Both Antoines and Paul lacked jumps ( due to qc resort screwing everyone with no jumps and how the only set up they built last year was 30 footer and less....)

Jordan, compton and borland were great but missed a little something
