who's heard one before?

i heard it for the first time yesterday... it was really loud, and then looked up and saw the clouds part

 
Thats real cool.

I've never seen one, but I know how they work/form, its a pretty neat concept.
 
i heard one about 7 years ago. it was pretty sweet. didn't see the clouds part but i heard it. scared the shit out of me because i had no idea what happened.
 
turns out all 5 of a jets computers crashed while they were at 40,000ft, had to dive to 10,000 (for obvious reasons) and broke the sound barrier
 
yea i was gonna say they dont fly mach over land unless necessary because it scares the shit outta people and disturbs tha peace
 
my dad used to live by an airport when he was a kid. this was before you weren't allowed to break the sound barrier just anywhere or whatever the law is. he said they'd happen occasionally and rattle the dishes in the kitchen.
 
I'm pretty sure if you break the sound barrier too close to the ground it'll shatter windows and shit like that. I'm not sure though.
 
i did, its loud as fuck but its so awesome. fighter jets are probably one of the most bad ass things ive seen in my life, everytime you see one your like..hollly shittt.

but yes if one does break the sound barrier too close to ground it send shockwaves that can dammage things such as windows and stuff, i saw a video on like military.com
 
my old dorm was right on the pacific ocean just outside san diego and i woke up to a loud ass boom one morning, i actually saw sumfin about it on the news that night and there was no say as whether it was a sonic boom or weapons testing by the navy in their firing range a few miles out
 
I have but from a distance. I've also had a formation of f15's fly right over me unexpectedly at the Syracuse air show. Scared the crap out of me.
 
Wait.... you were at an air show and a few jets flew over you and you got scared? Did you not know you were at an air show?
 
i used to hear RAF Tornados and jaguars flying over heard, loud as FUCK. really low too. and once i saw some RAF transport aircraft flying really low in the distance. fucking HUGE. ridiculous
 
Well considering we were watching jets in front of us and they came from behind, yes I was scared. I was also 8 at the time.
 
that's interesting. i never knew that jets breaking the sound barrier to close to the ground could do that much "damage". and fighter jets are so bad ass. like just imagine how fucking fast you are going, and how awesome that would feel. my uncle flew fighter jets back in the day and he said it is so awesome to do. he also blew out his ear drums doing it, and can barely hear hahaha.
 
hahaha yeah he never had to go through any dogfights or anything. but they wear parachutes, so if you were at 50,000 feet and ejected or something and were still alive, you would probably be fine...
 
one time when i was about 10 my dad and i were driving and we heard this loud noise and he was like "i think that plane just broke teh sound barrior" it was sick
