Super young kids with cells?

im 16 and just got one, i dont drive yet though but all of my friends do. i think if you party on the weekends you need a cell, you look like a fucking joke if you want a girls number and pull out a piece of paper.

and i can list 5 why your wrong.

1. who are the kids going to call...their parents. Kids that young schouldn't be left alone anyways, so why have a cell phone.

2. they are being spoilt like hell, fucks them over in life and makes them have a sence of entitlement, they think they schould always have a cell.

3.its money waisted....their are pay phones everywhere, phones at their friends house, phones everywhere

4.you know they are going to be expensive on the cell phone chatting up with their friends, they are never going to just use it in emergencys, or just in case

5. cell phones are getting soo damn small now, in the hands of a child could be easily lost, or broken. Now weather you have a plan or not, it still costs money to replace it last time i checked.

so wait....the only people who they call are their parents...but they will run up the bill by talkin to their friends?

and it should not schould.

yeah but were you aloud to ride aloe? and its not like jsut around his driveway.. .were talking like 3-5 miles away. he used to have a walkie talkie but once his mom realized that their not long range, he got a phone

a lot of kids beg ther parents and the moms use the excuse "its for safety" or "so i know where they are" as an excuse

so what your saying is.....

1. a kid who is 15 years old who needs to get a ride from his parents cuz he doesnt get his license for another year is too young to be left alone?

2. they prob should have a cell. you have no idea what could happen at anytime where your left stranded somewhere, with no phones near. fuck there lifes over? more like could possibly save lives. not every kid with a cell phone couldnt live life without it

3. phones arent evereywhere man. who knows where your gunna be. i live out in the middle of no where. i go on my fourwheeler out in the woods. which payphone do i use when my 4wheeler breaks down out there? i dont always have change on me for one either, and collect calls are a shitload

4. well, idk where you get these facts from. you must have many 12-15 year old friends that try and call you on their cell phones all the time. but seriously man, ill use my phone when i need to make a call. thats it. its usually not that often. i am able to leave my phone on the charger for a couple of hours without checking it. its also nice to be able to reach a friend to make plans for later when they are not home.

5. basically any kid old enough to be left alone is old enough to be responsible with a cell phone. im not sure on what that age is but thats not the point. the point is that when they are old enough, they can use one, but if they lose it or something make them pay for it.

i find it pretty logical for a 12-15 year old to have a cell phone if they are responsible. with it

12-15 isnt that young... when i went to Australia for rugby one of my billets had a 6 year old brother with a cell phone. A KIDS cellphone that had 4 buttons on it, with pictures on them not numbers. One button called home, another called mom/dad cellphone, another called the police and i forget what the last one was, maybe the other parents cell or something. Pretty crazy but at least you wouldnt be able to lose your kid at the mall or something like that anymore.

oh yea i see like 10 year old kids with like state-of-the-art cell phones all hte time. mostly girls though. theyre learning to be prissy at an early age :(

the only reason i got a cell was because when i bike in the summer wayy up in the middle of nowhere if i got hurt then i would be fucked and my parents could call me and i can call them if i have a problem but thoes kids who text people 10ft away from then i see is pointless i do use my cell to like meet up with friends and shit but the main reason was so i could call my parenst or someone if i got hurt where i might not be found

dude...every kid i know who owns a cell runs up the bill. Seriously. They could care less, they don't pay for it. 15 year old kid could call his rents from a pay phone, or his friends how phone if he is hanging out at his friends house.

No, a 15 year old kid doesn't need a cell phone. At 15 you can't drive by your self, soo you don't have many places to get stranded too. Yes they are good in emergencys, but lets face it, thats not what they are using it for. You can go ahead and tell me " Ohh yeah, what you say is BS cause i have mine and i bearly use it." Now put it away for a month, see how much you really use it. Its about becoming dependant on something, dependant on this technology. At 12-15 you don't need a cell, you really don't.

i remember when i was young, you used to bum rides from people you didnt know, or make plans beforehand. then cell phones came out, and some adults had them if you needed to call. in those days, at the ski hill, if you wanted to talk to friends/mom or whatever, you had a little 2 way radio, which kinda sucked, cause everyone would get on the same channel and bitch at each other. personally, i liked this tho. even last year, i rode to school with my neighbor who is kinda a hick, and every morning before school, kids would be talking on their cb radios, it was kinda fun, you could say shit, and nobody knew who you were. i miss those days.

Thats what my friend said too, then he got a cell phone and now he is glad he has one. Its soooo much more easier to stay in touch by having one.

i guess i don't get mad that they have them and stuff it just annoys me that they all have better phones than i have. haha

haha you always got my back bro.

k how bout this.

1) asking permission to go somewhere. I.E. a friends house after school or a sport

2) getting lost in an amusement park, would be nice to have a phone to call with.

3) cell phone insurance is like what, $20?

4) gives them a sense of responsibility. like having a dog but a bit different.

5) use a pay phone and a parent doesnt pick up and they dont know the parents work #? cell phones got a phone book.

6) theres not always a pay phone around.

I got one a month after my 17th birthday (this December), it makes things a little easier. I used to just figured if I was at home people could call me there and if I was out I was doing something for myself and didn't wanna talk or I was already with friends. My mom bought me one and it's pretty cool and coonvienient but I dont 100% NEED it.

yeah man whats up with that. theres this kid who lives by me, and he's like 7 or 8, and he has a LG chocolate. it pisses me off.

They have them for safety so their parents always know where they are. Pretty much.

I got mine when I was 14 or 15. A big reason was so I could call my mom and let her know when to pick me up from sports or skiing. I couldn't imagine not having one now, since its the only phone I use.

you guys are just jealous they got them before you

its common fucking sense

and when i was 12 i was go skiing by myself with friends and our parents would drop us off.... why wouldnt i need a cell phone at the time

i got a tracfone in 10th and then i got a real cell this year in 11th. i dont use it a lot. and pretty much everyone i know is on verizon so its free.

The way I see it is that the number of little kids who have cell phones only reflects the deterioration in parent's ambition to raise their kids right. As said before, it is not a babysitter, it's a fucking phone.

Im, 16 and can drive, so having a cellphone is a good thing. Since I can drive my parents call me sometimes to tell me to pick up my Niece or cousin from school. I can also call them if my plans change so they can know where I am and not be angry at me. I have seriously never sent one text message in my life, and it annoys the hell out of me when all the kids in my school take 10 minutes to type a 3 word message to send to their friends in another class. These kids dont even talk to eachother anymore.

I was like that once but I've got a long distance girlfriend and we can't call to talk to each other all the time so we text. I hate doing it but it saves minutes.

Young kids definitely don't need cell phones, and they sure don't need expensive ones.

I actually have a prepaid phone, which works great, since i don't talk much, and it was actually very cheap.

The Crazy thing is just how dependent you become to your cell phone, I'm sure that people become addicted to receiving messages from people. I can remember a time when I would become disappointed when i wouldn't receive more than a few pages a day during highschool.

It's Ridiculous when you look at the amount of money you spend, for things that are suppose to keep you "More Intouch" with others, when what technology is really doing is pushing us further apart...

my next door neibor is 5 and he has a cel phone. hes fuckin crazy and annoying. hes also better at biking than a few kids i know hahha

this kid on my bus got a cell phones when she was in 4th grade, and she has her own laptop ipod and a bunch of other shit and has never spent more than 20 dollars of her own money and she complains how spoiled her friends are and she is only in 6th grade

lets see them....

u dont need one till u start driving because then ur on ur own and if ur car fucking eats the shit then u need a phone to call someone to help u. u dont need a phone when ur 10 cause were are u going by urself without ur parents knowing/ driving u there.

i got one as a present in 8th grade last year but i never relaly used it and i didnt really care i think most kids these days usually get them around 6th-8th grade, sometimes i even see some kids with them that are in like 3rd and 4th grade

i dont run up the bill, but thats because i hate talking on the phone and pretty much only use it for my parents keeping tabs on where i am, or if i need rides. i agree that kids dont need one, and i could easily go a month without using mine, because i hate the phone and never use mine anyway,
