So I'm lookin at the Rules & Regs and I seee this...

-You must have the rights to any and all music in the edit. If you don't your entry will be

disqualified.

Does that basically mean that I have to buy all the music that's gonna be in the edit? And how are they gonna know if I bought it or not....

Thanks NS!

(btw I didn't search, hopefully that wasn't a retarded thing to not do haha)

hah, thats a doozy for sure! time for all the aspiring music producers on ns to step up to the plate!...or get your garageband loops on lock!

ya i was wondering about this to does it mean we have to get the permission of the artist to use it or just buy it

isnt the general rlule of thumb as long as you dont make money from it your set...winning 3gs is probably considered making money off of the thing...

i'm looking at this and i'm thinking about DJing, and they make a profit off of music that they didn't make, but they did buy it....

someone please make this clear haha, cause me making music is gonna take a bit haha

i dont know what the copyright laws are in canada but i've always understood that getting music rights usually involves paying a fee that could be anywhere from getting permission to paying the artist/producer what they require for you to use that music.

it's kinda like whenever people host premieres of ski movies they didn't make, they have to pay for the right to do so..

thats what i've always thoght anyway..

A big part of the reason for needing rights is because the winner's video will likely be broadcasted on Super Channel, which is a national television network in Canada.
