SUNY Plattsburg

What's good everyone, I'm heading to SUNY Plattsburg in August and was wondering if anyone else is going because I don't know anyone there and I need some dudes to ride with and party and shit.

P.S. Chronic is an everyday activity for me so hit me up if you wanna chill lol

I'm considering applying to SUNY Plattsburgh soon because of how it's easier to pay for if you're an in-state student, but it's just another shitty SUNY school.

Just because it's legal now doesn't mean you have to go loudly and proudly proclaiming it everywhere.

Oh my god he HAS THE RIGHT TO DO THAT IF HE WANTS TO WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE INSENSITIVE

First off i don't know who you think you are, but no its not legal in New York; the fact that its legal in some state 500 miles away changes nothing. Second off you are officially the first person i know for a fact i won't be chilling with in college so thanks for helping me sort that out:)

And yeah it's definitely not the best school in new york im just going because ill have no student loans when i get out and then i can go to the University of Utah for my mastery. Thats where the fun will start haha

Sorry to break it to you but it is legal in NY, along with the other 49 states.

Why do you say SUNY schools are shitty? Geneseo, Binghamton, Stony Brook, UB, and ESF are some of the best public universities in the country...

Best Public Colleges (National):

30. SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry

38. Binghamton University

38. Stony Brook University

48. University at Buffalo

61. University at Albany

Ok haha you got me. But every website you go on ranking colleges will give you a different position. Very subjective I guess. On a different note, the military academies weren't on that list?...

Yeah, it's subjective as shit. There's a lot to factor in but I think it still gives a general idea of where schools fall. I just don't see why SUNY schools are so negatively viewed? If someone would like to explain why they are so "bad" please feel free.

Yeah don't know what military schools would be classified as( in terms of public/private) so I couldn't tell you. I know this was based on public universities. So if a military school isn't considered public that could be why. If it is considered public then i don't have an answer for ya.

I mean i wouldnt really consider anything over the top 25 "best in the country" and anybody with a pulse can get into pretty much any of them besides geneseo.

Hell i got into 3 suny schools and my sat scores were below 1400

I guess i wouldnt consider them THAT bad but i have a long list of schools id rather attend than any of the suny schools.

US.News and world report classifies the academies and liberal arts colleges. Idk why

They aren't ivy league schools. They're also not shitholes that people describe them as. SUNY is made up of community colleges, trade schools, universities, and research universities. The admission criteria is going to differ a lot from school to school. Schools look at way more than SAT's too, and it's not even so much how selective a school is. Look at Geneseo, they are undoubtable the hardest SUNY school to get into but they weren't on the list i mentioned of top universities. So does the selectiveness of a school always make it better?

SUNY schools are also a shit ton cheaper than private schools so that opens up a lot of opportunity for people who might not be able to afford college somewhere else, which is pretty dope in my opinion.

Your SUNY education is showing. Most of the top schools, including all of the Ivies and Stanford offer need-based financial aid. If someone is unable to afford college, these schools will cover all or almost all of the tuition, making them cheaper than state schools. Yes, Harvard would be significantly cheaper than SUNY Buffalo for an impoverished yet intellectual student. But then, you fit neither of the above criteria.

I'm not trying to compare Suny schools to Ivy league schools, lol. I'd be retarded to even try. I was just saying that the tuition at SUNY schools is affordable...

This is most definitely true. But for a lot of middle class Americans who wont recieve financial aid and don't want to go into massive debt, the SUNYs are a good option.

when i went to school in 2011 private schools were much more competitively priced with grants and scholarships than suny alb, ub, etc

I don't get why people keep making these jokes. I'm pretty sure it was already legal to fuck dudes, they legalized marriage right

if you're smart and need money, most schools will give it to you

another way to put it: if youre smart yet have financial need, 95% of schools will assist you

forgot to add, while going to a private school + financial aid might not be as affordable as a SUNY school, i'd take the better degree and a little debt any day

that's just me though

This is not true. Need-based financial aid is primarily a characteristic of the Ivies. Many top schools will award little or no financial aid to students who come from middle-class or lower-middle-class homes, who truly cannot afford $45,000+ a year in tuition. Getting into a school and being able to afford that school are two vastly different thing. The Ivies have solved this problem and equaled the playing field. It helps that they have endowments in the billions of dollars.

PLattsburg is fun. I usually hit the mono pole when Im up there. Friends local/reiognal bands play there a bunch. I forget what night but there's $1 pints and $2.50 pitchers. And american deal if I ever saw one.

As with most college areas, don't drive drunk EVER. Your chances of getting fucked late night are pretty high.

It's been a little while since I've been up there but been going up here and there for the last decade. Some friends live there, others graduate and move on, then new friends attend. I think I might be too old soon to know anyone at the school lol.

Every school is a party school but plattsburg has been getting pretty rowdy forever. They cracked don on a lot of the fun but it's still a good time.

Be careful the first weekn or two of school. They'll hit the streets hard, posted up on corners and riding bikes around to card people with beer. Just to make a presence and scare people for the next month or so, to keep the shit they have to deal with to a minimum. Just keep your beers in a back pack, don't let anyone search you, and be semi coherent at least early on and you're good.

Whiteface has really been making some moves in their parks the last few years. Tyler watson has really been pushing it. Know a few other cats on the crew. They shred. Some cool locals up there as well. Joan, Calderone, and other skiers are all from there, I think dillons back up there. But there's some pretty good skiing in them parks.

Oh yeah, and I guess it's also a school, so there's school stuff.
