Seriously, why does anyone ski at this place. Did you need yet another reason? Well...

http://ramzee.net/Files/SSVStatementOfClaim.pdf

Long and short is that SSV is suing the fired ski patrollers for engaging in a campaign to try to discourage people from skiing at SSV (as if anyone really needed to be discouraged). Fun fact: Newschoolers is named in the lawsuit as a medium through which the alleged defamation took place.

LOL. I don't know man, they had great snow last year. Everytime I went it was epic and stable, really solid work IMO. I may not like the way they do business, ie raising tickets and firing good people because of owner's snot nosed sons, but if I can hit chest deep blow for 5 hours before rushing back to Calgary to catch an Electrical class, I'm going to spend my money there.

Most of the guys who quit/got fired were old crusty douche bags who wouldnt give you the time of day. Yes they had lots of experience but i dont think sunshine is any worse off personnel wise after it all.

That being said i dont think they should be sued $300 000 but they most definetely did give sunshine a lot of bad publicity

1. There is just as good snow, and better terrain, elsewhere, and this is not about whether you like skiing there, it's about whether you're willing to give your money to scumbags when there are other equivalent alternatives that deserve it more.

2. Being a litigious dickwad is not the way to go about your business in the ski industry. We don't do that. It gets worse when you sue people because you did something that was generally perceived to be wrong and bad publicity results from what you did. That is the lowest form of slimy. Of course they generated bad publicity for the mountain - people were outraged at the conduct of the Scurfields. That is the fault of the conduct, not the fault of the people who let others know about the conduct.

Suing in these circumstances is tantamount to saying "you guys owe us money because you refused to keep your mouths shut about our heretofore unseen levels of douchebaggery".

This is hilarious.

I'd almost forgotten about the whole debacle, I even gave in and skied a day at sunshine last week and then this comes to light! Back to badmouthing sunshine while I ski the lake.

I agree with the first statement, but only as much as this other terrain is more than double the distance. I also have to take into consideration what the patrollers were officially fired for. If that is true than SSV is not the only party who is a dickbag. Shit goes down just about any company you work for and people, and companies, can say some pretty outrageous stuff after the fact. All of that in mind, I choose to ski at SSV because of it's convenience and consistently superior terrain to anything within 2 hours of Calgary. Not trying to convince anyone, just stating my reasons and trying to show some level-headedness here.

They were fired for enforcing the rules on Scurry and his rich bitch friends.

The sunshine claims are fabrications and exaggerations to try and give cause to the firing. Read the statments, its painfully obvious.

As shitty as the situation is, and as lack lustre the the terrain is asides from Delirium/Wild West. Sunshine hands down has the best backcountry access out of any resort I've skied in alberta. Healy creek is a gods send.

Really Brett....really?

Out of the guys who quit got fired who were the old crusty douche bags out of that lot? Please do tell.

Because from what i remeber a lot of those old crusty douche bags had families to feed, bills to pay, and people to support that deserve better then to have taxis waiting for them at the bottom of the hill in the morning.

No offence but thats not how you treat people who have given 20 plus years of loyal service.
