I doubt there will be enough snow on Nov 11th this year. I'll be there the tuesday wednesday after opening if it does though.

whole lotta sun

^This! I like the new strawb cam. Theres supposed to ~5cm of snow on the 10th so i'll be up there on the 11th for sure.

its pretty thin up thing there now. it was really warm these past couple days so a lot melted.

unless it gets really cold and starts dumping...

seriously hoping but seriously doubting all at the same time. looks bare up there, and they are even busting out the guns

get the day off school so hell yeah. not that school is a factor in that at all. but last year opening day was unbelievable. i didnt get on the actual hill until 11 and skied pow for a sold 7 runs despite the monstrous lift lines. every member of sunshine staff sucks though. i feel bad giving them my money. opening day and maaaaybe late season is the only time i go there. such a shame, considering how flippin awesome sunshine is on any given day.

The weather newtwork are claiming 15-25cm of snow overnight for Canmore....

If they get half of that then they'll be fine to open

i have been working up there for 2 weeks now. what you guys don't see on the cams is how thin it is up there.

if you had half the ammount of people on opening day that you had last year, the rocks would all be exposed in about 2 hours.

countdown for opening day was taken off the website. isnt looking too promising. FUUUCCCCKKKKK!!!!! i NEED to ski.

Straight from the site.

It's not much info wise..

"Sunshine Village is currently reviewing the targeted opening date on a day-to-day basis. Check back for any updates."

fair troll

Sunshine Village is one snowfall away from having a great opening day.

"We're close, we're really close," says Doug Firby, associate director of Communications for Alberta's most popular ski and snowboard resort. "We just need one more good snowfall so that we can guarantee our guests the kind of opening they expect from Sunshine."

Sunshine is world famous for its legendary all-natural champagne powder snow, unlike the man-made snow that other area ski resorts have to rely on. Sunshine has received awards for its unique snow farming technique, which uses 35 km of snow fencing to capture the snow on the resort's three big mountains.

With 2 cm in the past 24 hours, Sunshine's runs are sparkling white, with a snowpack of 26 cm, and growing. With temperatures staying comfortably below freezing, every flake of snow that falls in the coming days is sure to stay.

Forecasters are predicting a stellar season, thanks to the La Nina weather effect. Snow-forecast.com states: "Early indications are promising that we will generally have another great ski season." The La Nina weather pattern, it adds, "is very good news" for western Canada.

You can watch Sunshine's progress on our mountain cams. And check back frequently to our conditions page for updates on the snow pack.

Typically, Sunshine opens with three lifts: the NEW Strawberry Express high-speed quad, Standish and WaWa lifts. Reduced prices for opening day will be in effect.

Pretty sure whatever happens they'll open something on thursday..

Ya no joke there not opening till the 18th at the earliest cause they want a legit amount of snow, no trolling.Marmot is opening on 13th now too.

Kind of resent your "every member of sunshine staff sucks" comment. I'm guessing you don't know or haven't talked to many of the staff, mostly cool people. What experiences have you had that make you think this.

a vast majority of people who work there have a horrible attitude. last year on opening day, cracked a joke to a lifty, he took it completely the wrong way and wouldnt let me go up. same day, last run, went into the park, all the features were crossed off with the poles or whatever, so i ducked under the rope to hit another run, cause whats the point of riding through the park if you cant hit anything? park staff douche bags were sitting around and almost seemed to pick a fight with us for something completely ridiculous. also lost my gloves, asked a staff member to direct me to the lost and found, told me there was no lost and found. i later that season found my gloves in the lost and found. there have been other just little incidents like this and it makes me assume everyone there is ignorant and unhappy and just there for the money, like its a job and not their passion to ski or snowboard.

and just t omake it official:

Hey Sunshine Buddies! After much debate, we have decided to postpone our Opening Day to Nov. 18. We want to have a solid base for all of you to ski and ride on, and we're not quite there yet. We will open with Standish, Strawberry and Wawa running for our Opening Day. Sorry to dissapoint those of you who were planning ...on making the trek, but it's just one more week.
