sunshine always gets the worst chit chat but the last couple seasons they have had the best opening first couple months snow condition wise...louise is alright but not always dependable...for a park you're deifnately not going to get anything spectacular out of either in december unless you come to calgary and hit up cop haha...i would have to say sunshine is definately your best bet for december shredding

lake if u can...sunshine usuall ygets a dump around then but there hill is kinda flat so u might have to push more than ur used too

or if your there with snowboarders that get stuck infront of you, but if you do go with snowboarders make sure you stay ahead of them, this way you don't have to pull them with your poles.

why are u going to edmonton? also are u willing to make a long drive from edmonton to ski at louise or fortress or sunshine? it will take u like 4-5 hours from edmonton to any of those places to ski. if u were in calgary or willing to stay overnight a few days in banff it would make alot more sense. also that time of year shine should be pretty good, same with louise, but its good to constantly check the snow reports a few days before u make the trip, that way u will know what its gonna be like and where the best place to ski will be

I'm visiting relatives for X-mass in Edmonton but plan on going to banff or Jasper for 1 to 3 nights (prob. the 29th through the 31st) to get skiing in. So the 4 hour drive won't bother me. (I'm used to driving a 4 hr return trip to ski an 800ft of elevation escarpment called blue mountain, so 4 hrs for a mountain sounds pretty good.
Looks like the concess is definately to stay in Banff vs. Jasper so I'll probably book a room there and then watch the snow reports.

i love their park, lots of original/fun stuff, not just your basic tables and flat rails. the rest of the mountain is fun and there are a lot of good places to hike, but i prefer castle's terain over any other mountain.

yeah i have, it is really fun but to get to the top using the gondola takes forever, so you can't get many runs in from whitewall or whatever it's called to the bottom.

i dunno^ if they have the same amount of snowfall at castle and kickinghorse, i would go to castle. you can get in way more runs and they have terrain that is just as steep. plus the tree runs there in powder are unreal.

they are slow but they are also short, you take a triple to the middle of the mountain, then a double takes you to the top, which is where the good stuff is. i don't know how long it takes from top to bottom.

just go to norquay instead. That place has a real down home feel, no crowds, great snow and a killer terrain park. It's close proximity to Banff means great nightlife. So if you want a real ski experience, lapping powder lines all day off North American or hiking Norquay's immense and easily accessible backcountry, visit this family owned gem. We guarantee you'll be back again and again.

Awesome guys, so I'm booking two nights I'll hopefully get to ski both Louis and Sunshine. Haven't really heard of Norquay before but I'll look into it and might try and ski there as well.
