What is the commute like from Sunnyvale to Squaw?

are there any closer resorts?

I might be living in or near Sunnyvale for the next year and would ideally like to ski squaw all season. i know CA traffic can be BRUTAL (8 years in Los Angelos..) but how long/strenuous is the drive?

long and strenuous indeed. i grew up in cupertino, the town right next door to sunnyvale. it's usually about 5 hours with normal traffic. i think the fastest i ever did was 3 and a half or so. slowest can be up to 8 hours when it's dumping on 80. good luck!

that's not what i wanted to hear.... but thanks.

i mapquested it and it was about 200 miles to truckee.

over here that would take around 3 hours, but traffic in DC is nothing compared to what i have seen in CA.

its not that big of a trek- leave at 7 and youll be there by 11 (at night that is).
sac traffic can be a true nutsack

My Dad lives in Sunnyvale, he averages 3.5-4 hours to Alpine Meadows. It's not that bad if you time it right to avoid east bay and Sacramento traffic.
