They are trying to be too cool. They talk about lodging on their site. WHO LODGES WHEN THEY GO TO SUNDOWN. Also why the hell is it 40$? id just go to butternut on monday and pay 15, its only a 30 minute longer drive. Add the 20 more trails and the discounts why the hell wouldnt you go there. Also berkshire east = 25 dollars on a weekday once again 1000000 times better. ok you could say that sundown is closer and the best in ct. but its still probably the 3rd worst in the galaxy(above southington and powder ridge and mowhawk(i think thats in ct)). Sundown is just using their captive audiences and also ski wednesday groups. i just want lower rates.

i get what your sayin, and i agree the prices are bullshit, but we also have night skiing which cost a shit load each night just to keep the lights on. and i work in the rental shop... youd be suprised how many people come up from down south and stay in a near by hotel. if you had a little mountain like sundown, you would advertise the shit out of it too to try in bring in more money.. would you not. find me a ski area that is better in ct and doesnt advertise as much. but as far as the rates go, its cuz of night skiing, snow making, and all the other shit they gotta cover

 
sure it's small but it's maintained perfectly and there're never any problems. I would assume it's so expensive because of the insurance prices with all of their park-related items (rails, jumps, etc.) did you mean it's a wannabe big mountain? Because i don't see how it's like okemo at all, besides the fact that the park is of the same caliber, just smaller.

also, berkshire east has no park whatsoever, and clearly that's the highlight of sundown. would you mind explaining how sundown is trying to be 'cool' ?

i do agree that sundown is way overpriced, even if the have to pay for all that stuff its not that good, there is always ice and the landings always are either icy or have huge craters in them, i would like to see them make more improvements buy adding jumps and junk.

Part of me just wanted to comment about this post, but I;ll just say this. Why wouldnt we try to market the crap out of the place? why wouldn't I try to be Okemo, How much do you think we pay for snowmaking, insurance, and other operating costs? Where are you going to find a hill with as much dedication towards terrain features south of Vermont? and finally, are you one of the 'afterschoolers' where obviously, things are going to get a little run down after 500 kids session the features.

The price concerns you guys address irk me in a personal way, so i;ll let that rest, but the marketing one is just wierd.

 
id go to sundown over birkshire east, i go there for ski club n it blow when they have there 'park' up its a c box, a battleship rail a straight rail n a jump. but its set up so that if u wnana hit the jump u can only hit the c box or the battleship rail tthe mountain suckksss

sundown is sick, thats all there is to it. yes, it might be small, but its in conn, what do you expect. and as far as the park stuff goes, it blows anything in mass or conn out of the water. their rails are so sick, they put most of the bigger resorts rails to shame. if you disagree, you obviously havt been there recently. so sack up, and spend the $40 and treat yourself to a day of riding on some of the best terain southern new england has to offer.

 
are alot of you guys from simsbury? i dont like the simsbury cops because one time we got stoped in a parking lot because i was skiing with my shoes while my mom was drivin and they yelled at us :(.

i dont think lodging will be that successful, but if you have to to market...whatever. i dont like the price increase, but hey, a 20 minute car ride gets me that kinda terrain shit, im in.

i hate sundown with a passion now. the rails are pretty good, but where the hell are the jumps? 1 saw 2. also, it is good for ct, but i would rather drive to wachusett any day.

sundown has by far the best park in ct, all the rails are so nice and they work uber hard on making it nice. if guys wanna talk shit about sundown, drive your ass to butternut and ski their shitty setup.

 
sundown probably the best CT mountain ive ever skied. If you guys have ever been skiing at southington, then you would know that just about any mountain is jesus compared to it
