Sumos or Katanas

Ok so I am stuck between one of these skis, I am 6 feet tall and about 150 lbs

The katana seems like a really rad ski, I am looking at the 183 but am iffy about the twin on it and would like to be able to ride/land switch in pow ...

Im skiing mainly baker and the west coast mountains by the way

The sumos are pretty rad all around the only problem is that they come only in a 190 and i would still like to be able to spin and am not sure how well that would work on those beasts ... I could probably center mount on these giants though ?

Looking for some good opinions, thanks.

the sumos are a pretty heavy ski. more so than the katana i'd say but i've only fondled the latter. sick pow ripper and don't ski too too long, but not a lightweight bc jib stick.

Katana's not a freestyle ski where the Sumo is definatly more freestyle oriented. SO if you're goign to be spinning, and tricking, I'd go for the Sumo. And yes, it strikes me as absolutly RIDICULOUS how the sizing on Sumo's is 170 then 190. Odd. Oh well, they're a sweet ski.

what about the JP vs. Julien or the ARG's or Surface live life or Fatty-puss or Thugs or bacon/EPpro or Moment Ruby/comi/M1/melee thats all i got for now that would work but as for the two you said i wouls say sumo b/c the katana's have a "powder channel" and i think that they would be verry good switch because for those ski's to live up to their potential your going to have to mount them a lil farther back than desirable for any spin/switch tricks but look at the skis i said

188cm JP vs Juliens from last year for $419 at Fire on the Mountain in Dover, NH. Could probably be talked down some from there, seeing as they've been sitting there through the summer.

Are you just exclusively looking at Katanas and Sumos or is there any possibility of you choosing a different ski. I'm sort of in your boat and I'm going with Bacons. I ski Stevens and hopefully Baker a few times. Of course the Bacons won't be my only ski, they will be part of a quiver. However with their sidecut they could ski all over the mtn. pretty well. The flex is fairly soft though, I dunno if you'd like that...as your current choices are Sumos and Katanas, which I haven't felt but Volkls are usually more stiff than other skis.

Good luck finding a ski man.

I just bought the Sumo's recently. From what ive read i havent seen one true fact in this thread. They have sizes other than 190 for the Sumo. I got the 176. They arnt heavy skis at all i was actually suprised to see how light they are. The sumos are huge 125 in the waist. And they are a full twin.
