Summit County or SLC?

I've got a free place to stay in both Breck and SLC, but I can only make one trip. If I went to Utah, it would be the end of March. CO I could go any time between the end of Feb and the end of March.

I want to kind of ski everything, some park, some BC, etc. So, where should I go?

depends on money. summit county mountains are probably cheaper, but utah snow is better. its probably better to ask closer to your trip, since a lot can change between now and then

Youtah would be my choice, coming from someone who's been to both the SLC and Summit Co. areas, and is not from either place.
Utah- better lift ticket rates, proximity to SLC, public transit to the Cottonwoods, generally better terrain.Summit Co.- more expensive, further from Denver, resorts are somewhat more spread out, better parks.

utah's got amazing park as well...obviously no one has checked out the new king's crown at park city. but that's besides the point.

colorado is obviously way cooler, i mean all the PROS live there!

Having been to both multiple times but never lived in either (so I'm not biased) I would go to Utah. You'll have a sick time no matter where you chose but the snow and terrain in Utah is just awesome.

Colorado = Breck + Keystone + Vail = the 2 best parks and dope pow
Utah = PC + Alta + Mormons = 1 dope park, dope pow, and wierd people
Colorado fo sho

I forgot to mention a good night life... I assume CO wins this one hands down since it's not full of Mormons, right?

coming from someone from colorado, utah is better, summit is just full of a bunch of shit ton of wannabe gangsters, utah has way cooler people. the powder in summit sucks. they get like 2 inches a day over a week, there no big dumps. tho vail is awesome. and utah's parks are just as good.

Nick did you have a bad experience when you came to utah? haha.

And go to CO, sooo much coooolerr.

if you are looking to ski some good shit go to utah. snow and terrain is amazing. if you want parks go to CO

You probably wont be skiing pow either way, this isnt the same as last year, normally I would say Utah in a heartbeat but if youre going the last week in march your chances arent stellar. I realized someone will probably quote this and post some copy pasted thing about how much snow Utah gets in march but the thing is as the month goes on the snowfall decreases...

That's a pretty ignorant statement Nick. Utah has everything to offer that Summit does and then some. Cheaper lift tickets, better terrain, better access to said terrain (all the resorts are super close and there is INSANE BC access that Colorado cannot even touch), and generally speaking you can avoid crowds wayyy easier in SLC than in Summit. The parks may not be as good as Summit on some days, but then again PC and The Canyons have some sick shit in their parks so I don't even think that's a legitimate argument.

And the mormon shit isn't even that bad. I live in an entirely mormon neighborhood in Cottonwood Heights and they're decent people. They do believe in some insanely weird shit, but they're nice enough and keep their distance. 3.2% beer does suck though. Drink liquor.

this is why summit county sucks. and when it does snow more than a couple inches they close the motherfucking highway.

Summit's a bunch of fun I'm going there this year, Keystone and Breck have great parks and decent pow/backcountry. Vail is great for powder and all-mountain because of it's size and sick back bowls. That being said, Utah has superior snow (and more of it) and there are a fair share of mountains with nice parks. The terrain is amazing, my personal favorites are: Alta, Snowbasin, Canyons, and Solitude, but Brighton has a real nice park (although it is overflowing with snowboarders). Summit is more condensed with a better night life, but the actual terrain and snow is better in Utah. Either way will be awesome

Bahahahahah you've obviously never seen a nice park then, brightons park is terrible.

Utah has the pow and the parks... colorado only has the parks, and mormons arent a big deal.. i live in utah and the only time i have been bothered by them was in 4th grade, most of them are pretty cool.

It really depends. If you have lots of money, like to party, don't mind traffic, and need massive jumps, go to CO

If you are on a budget, like easy access resorts, and want some pow mixed in come here. But mormons suck so don't come here.

opposite.

Utah is way cheaper in every sense. You can live cheaper, ski cheaper, get around cheaper.

Its also wayyyy too easy to access shit in Utah, 40 mins from the airport to skiing, 25-30 mins from Downtown to skiing.

Theres mormons yes but there pretty low key, extra hard to get drunk off cheap beer though... whatever.

im a Utah advocate, just went on a 4 day trip there and spent about $25. CLAIM

wow utah for sure, i know i am going to get flamed for this but judging by the new clown school edit PC has the best park in the country right now. Also if u go at the end of march you might get hit by a big storm, it is pretty hit or miss on pow then but it is deep if u get hit by a big one in late march

The Canyons is definitely not equal, but not exactly a huge step down either. It's pretty rad from what I've seen. And for $79 a day vs. $90ish or whatever Breck/Keystone is, you get a lot more bang for your $$$, the rest of the mountain is pretty rad too. But you know that.

CO for sure, no one at pc takes their careers seriously and it's annoying, they're just goofing off having fun all the time while I'm tryin to train. so gay.

I have no desire to ski CO BC. It's not as epic, it's sketchier and there's less of it. PC has a great park and the Wasatch BC is Epic, as well as a lot more accessible than anywhere near Summit.

Im going to have to disagree with everyone claiming utah has cheaper lift tickets. If youre going tobe there for a week or more Summit's season pass cannot be beat....I think. But yeah day tickets are expensive as hell but 400 for 5 mountains is pretty damn cheap.

They are finishing up the canyons big park and you can stay busy there for quite a while it is very nice. They got their shit together this year.
