How does Pvc piping work compared to a legit park box or rail? and is there something better thats still kinda cheap?

It slides almost as well as a park box/rail. You might need to water it down if it gets a bit sticky, but otherwise it'll probably be alright.
And, yeah I'd say pvc is probably your best bet unless you want to spend alot more money on hdpe.

you can buy sheets of puck board and make your own boxes too.

Puck board = HDPE. Either way, its still pretty expensive.
