Although we dont want it to, summer is coming fast. I havent done what I've wanted to with jibbing this winter. So I wanna make some rails for this summer. I need a base to ski on.

I don't have access to rink snow, so i was wondering how carpet works? I have a wooden starting ramp but not much of a downhill after that. So i was wondering, how does carpet work? What kind of carpet should I use? How hard is it to turn/slow down on carpet? and also, what, if anything, do i need to put on the carpet to make it slide good.

I just got new skis so i dont want to beat them up with certain chemicals and stuff so please dont suggest something that will mess them up. Thanks guys.

um, astro turf or something like it works well, but you'll need a good inrun no matter what

as for turning/slowing down, you can turn enough to do rails, and as for stopping, well, too much speed will definitely not be your problem

what i use personally is a 3 foot inrun consisting of a 2 foot high plastic kicker and a beat up skimboard

i start on the top of the kicker and slide down it onto the skimboard, which i hop off of onto th rail

We got this from my friends aunt who had a weeding on there tennis court and we got like 2 100 long 10ft wide pices. Apprenty it was 1000 per roll and it works nice, went form shity jiber to decent one over summer. Also asto turf works well, this is outdoor carpeting.

reliable racing sells this shit that ski areas use around high speed quads .Or ive heard that that plastic orange snow fence with the sqaure holes works good when wet.

 
Go to any hardware store and ask for construction fence or snow fence. It's the orange stuff you see on the sides of race courses and along construction sights. It's cheap everyone has it, and it really fast. THe only problem is you can't edge on it at all.

for the snow fence... just water works but if you need more speed, add liquid soap and it works better i think im going to improve my setup from last year. if you need even more speed, tow yourself with a bike or something. the snowfence will deffenatly get skis muddy and shitty though, id buy a cheap shit pair or use old ones because nomatter what you use, skis will get muddy

yea, only problems i had witht the sanow fence are....

1. some people take getting used to the slickness

2. tips can get caught in it and cause you to eat shit

3. fingers can get caught in the holes... but that doesnt hurt too much.

i got my house pimped out for the summer though, 5 pole vaulting mats and summer skiing should be enougj to keep me occupied until winter

i guess it would work but the hike back up and you still wouldnt want to use great skis on water and soap and you risk going off the side of the rail but if you are really careful i guess itd be ll right
