Summer skiing in Europe?

i'm planning on going to hit up some glaciers during the summer, but i don't know off any good resorts with a good park and good prices. I live in Europe, so most likely its going to be Austria, Switzerland or France. So can anyone suggest some good parks in these places and give me some prices. The bigger the park, the better.

If you got any pictures of the parks, please post them as well.

I am looking at going to either Tignes, Deux Alpes or Saas Fee, I've heard good things about Deux Alpes from my friends and Tignes and Saas Fee look sick online. There are a variety of camps at each one, not sure how much each of them costs. I'm trying to find out whether I can get a summer season pass at one and stay for a month, but I don't know if that's going to happen.

saas fee summer park is so sick! but lift passes are pretty expensive and it has been known to get pretty busy.. practicing race teams may kill you on your way there too.. never done any of the camps but i will hopefully do a week there in july/august!

Deux Alpes park is huge but when i went it was getting too warm so the snow was pretty poor quality and it got really busy, Saas has a smaller park but with a good kicker line and pipe, better snow and no queue for the T-bar

i ve been to tignes and les 2 alpes.

tignes i smaller, park is not very good, but chill atmosphere, not too many people.

2 alpes : park is sick, loads of people, horrible atmosphere, lots of posers, badmannered italian snowboarders, snaking ..

but still i prefer les 2 alpes.

if you aare a beginner go to tignes.

else go to les 2 alpes.

i m going to les 2 alpes in early july.

maybe i see you there !!

i'll be going middle/late August.

Any information on how to save money on this trip, would be great. for instance, if your grandma in 2 alps rents out cheap apartments, you could tell me. Or if 2 people can ride with one lift ticket (some places have your picture in the cards and they show up on the computer) 1 guy does a run, while the other one films and switch every 5 runs. Is it possible to hook onto someone on the t-bar (we do it here to save time and get more jumps done for the day, someone goes down, get the t-bar, and the other guy waiting higher up, just rides onto it, if there a big lift line.) Is poaching an option? Also is there the option of bribing the lifties to not notice us jumping the over the barriers.

in les 2 alpes if at 11 30 am or noon you go to the cabanon and ask to dig, and if they let you (which they will if you dont look like a gaper) then you can dig from noon to 2 pm and get a free pass for the next day.

you can go to dachstein or hintertux in austria there are pretty nice parks and the lift ticket is not too expensive if you come must write to me...

cheers

Cheers for the info guys, just found out that one of my mates who works in Saas Fee is staying for the summer so there is looking more likely.

2 Alpes Glacier looks so sick in the summer, just a massive park. And the town is pretty good fun, apart from some italians.....

I'm hopefully going to get out there for 2 weeks in the summer,

How long does 2 alpes stay open for on one day? i.e 12pm/2pm/3pm?

This all sounds dope, I'm off to uni this year, and b4 I go I want to get some more skiing in, although I'd have to go in school Holidays... whats summer skiing like ?

check out www.britishfreeskicamps.com ,me and about 10 mates are going out for a month this july/august

sorry this is fully off topic, but this is the best chance I've got of finding UK skiers in one place on this forum

I want a pair of Surface Watch lifes, where can I find a UK retailer ?

if it's any consolation, I want to use them summer skiing...

"august"

Sometimes Les 2 Alpes is already closed in August. If not, crash at sick & the mental.

"if 2 ppl can ride with one lift ticket"

No. You need the ticket to get up to the glacier.

"is poaching an option."

If you are willing to hike for hours? so no..

"jumping over barriers"

what are you talking about? what barriers?

You'll be lucky to find them I reckon, they aren't exactly common even in the states. Why watchlifes anyway?

I've heard awesome things about them, and I need to replace my PEs I don't know whether to stick with PEs, which I love, or give Surfaces a go...

Don't get me wrong, watchlifes are good skis, not at all similar to PEs though. Maybe try and get them sent from the states?

yea, I might import, they're really cheap too ?!?! what makes them so different to PEs I heard they're pretty similar, built for park and all mountain...

Everything in the states is cheaper, especially with the current exchange rate.

A friend who skis the watchlifes described them to me as more of a park ski, ie pretty soft and light compared to a PE. I find the PEs to be much more of an all mountain ski than a park ski really.

yea the PE is very awesome for All Mountain, but I want something a bit more buttery for the park... as I want to spend more time there...

As far as I'm aware yes, camps just get run in the public park, they don't have separate lines like in the states, or at least I don't think so.

? yea I like to use my skis on the swings and roundabouts, actually, how cool would it be to ski down a slide ?!?!I see urban Jib coming on :)

In the states, private camps like windells and coc have their own parks and the mountain will have a normally inferior public park for non camp members to access.

I don't know if there will be summer camp at kitzsteinhorn,I heard sth. about that there will be one.I hope that there will be because that's one of the sickest places I've skied.

i tore my acl and just had surgery 3 weeks ago. i hope i can do some easy and chill skiing down the trails sometime over the summer.

im gonna look more into going to europe this summer if my leg gets better

If you want to ski trails you should avoid Les 2 Alpes, it's super icy and not fun to ski outside the park.

Tignes has 1 long, fairly steep but slushy run. Probably the best trail u can get in summer if you don't mind the slush.

Zermatt has the best snow by far, and has several very long runs, the longest being 8 km, not really steep. Zermatt has 1000 m vertical in summer.

Saas-Fee is fairly steep but everything is really short.
