Summer Skiing - Europe. Advice?

I haven't been there much, but it depends on how much snow they get in winter and how warm the summer is; best case you can ski till september/october I think. However, I also think that the park is best earlier in the season, when there are camps, i.e., late june/july.

...i would definately say val senales in italy, the park is not that known but in my opinion one of the best summer parks in europe!

Me and my friends will be out there 25 june-3rd August, so let's shred it up NS style! Who else is definitely coming?

If you go to norway to ski park this summer, you should be there around 20th of june. Thats about when the camp starts and wil be good for probably 3 weeks after that! Would really recomend Juvass if youre looking for a good park. Also got a better chanse of scoring good weather there.

Would also like that info. were you shaping or did you drive up to the mid station or sumthin?
Done a summer season last year in Deux Alpes which was class (have no other glacier skiing to compare it to though.). Snow was really good with the big jump line open till the very end of the season in august, but not sure how good it'll be this year considering they didnt get great snow this winter. Kumi yama is on the first weekend in july so the park should be mint after that too.
last years kumi yama park: http://www.vidiac.com/video/Kumi-Yama-2010
I'm hoping to get over for two weeks to a month towards the end of the season too.

you can volonteer to be a digger. ski for free for 2 hours of work in the afternoon when the glacier is closed.

pretty good deal if you ask me.

the only requirement is to have big clothes and look like a G pretty much.

or if they see you hit the big jumps haha :)

and then not being a lazy fuck helps.

Being a lazy fuck who smokes while shaping seems to be exactly what they look for ;)it does look like it would be good fun tho.

i did it for 2 summers.

so much fun.

it can get a little tiring but it s a good workout. and after work you just head down to the pool or the trampolines.

les 2 alpes is a LOT of fun if you dont mind the retarded spanish and italian snowboarders + italian racers : )

I'm doing les 2 alpes or Tignes every year. Both are good but don't expect a Breck park.

Les 2 alpes has a better park, bigger and more features(with a big jump, not big air but still big). Tignes is smaller and doesn't have a big jump. I had a lot of fun at both mountains. The advantage of Tignes is that it's way less crowded. Dilemma between more features or more people...

Snow is usually like spring snow, soft but not too shitty. This year should be a bit worse than last year though, especially for the quantity as the glacier in Tignes has now a base of 98cm. Last's year base at the same period was more than 2 meters... But there is snow all the time so don't worry about it.

For the afternoon, both are dope. Mountain biking is getting better and better. Tignes has got a very nice bikepark for 2-3 years, and you're pretty much alone on the mountain. Once again Les 2 Alpes, more people on the slopes, but still nice bikepark. One of the best in the alpes.

Tignes has a waterjump, which is really nice. There is a nice skatepark, tennis courts, trampolines,... Pretty much everything.

For the nightlife, more people in les 2 Alpes, better atmosphere consequently.

You'll have a great time on either mountains. If your level is very high in freestyle I'd go for 2 Alpes.

Can't compare to the others like Saas and everything, but consider it also. Summer is about sun, fun and that's it, so you'll have fun everywhere I think.

O yeah the amount of little Italien kid racers there is annoying they somtimes just go speeding over the little kickers one at a time while everybodys waiting to hit them.

Other than that Les 2 Alpes has great park so may boes and rails the jumps there are pretty good and the small kickers are real good warm up jumps there i learned a good few new tricks there and im going again in August. 1 week im skiing and teh other is Moutain biking.

Yeah, there has been one there for the las two years. You have to pay for it though, think its €5 for half an hour.

Tom Wallisch said Juvass (Norway) is better than Hood. I don't think he meant cuz of the jumps/rails, but the weather is as good as perfect 90% of the time, park is pretty dope and you can ski from 9:30 til 16:00.

We are however going to Fonna this year. Park is about the same level, but the town one stays in is closer, more idyllic (right by the fjord) and a better place for parties. The glacier itself also has more epic surroundings, and one can do BC. Weather is more risky though.

Only been to Saas Fee once, place was expensive as hell, the park a bit below what one finds at the Norwegian glaciers. Plus it's so high (3300m or something), which equals lower temperature. Norway=NoShirtShred.

I find it hilarious, but also sad that Scandinavian countries teach their pupils to speak better English than the UK or US.

Scandinavian education systems = pretty much state of the art. ;)

Please, all of you consider that with the little snowfall the alps have had since January, this year's setup focus in most summer parks will probably be different than in 2009/10. I remember the 2007 spring/summer to force shapers to stick to jib lines in some resorts as there was not enough snow to build big booters.

That's fine by me. I'm no good at huge booters anyway. Just lots of flailing around and eating shit from my part...

We're from the UK. We're used to hitting a couple of sticky rails. Any booter more than 5ft, and with a shaped landing is an improvement.
