As of late I have been hiking up at Stevens Pass...but I was cruising ski sites and came upon Crystal Mtn and something about "scenic chairlift rides". Is this just for hikers or do people ski in the summer up there?
It says they open July 1st...I would love to ski...
They'll let you mtn bike and hike, but for skiin, i dunno, they might get pissy cuz of liability. if the lifty is cool enough you might be alright. the hike up wouldn't be bad though
i've been up three times in the last week and so far they haven't cared. Today a couple guest services employees came over and were just watching us session some rails at the base of Quicksilver. My guess is that if they don't care about kids dragging up and hitting rails, they won't care about people skiing down when they open the lifts. There are always people up there in the summer with touring gear anyway.
As of yesterday, there's no snow below Kelly's Gap. And even on Green Valley it's getting bare. You're better off going into Mt Rainier Park toward Chinook Pass and hiking off the road.
