Summer Ski setup

My plan for the summer was to build my backyard ski setup, however I never had the time to complete it but I'll me finishing it soon hopefully. I'm just wondering how much it really helps your skiing once you're back on the snow, or if people just do it because it's a fun thing to do in the summer. How hard is it to apply your newly learnt tricks to rails? Especially if the rail is a lot different from what you had in your backyard.

Haha, I've been trying to build mine since early July and it's just now coming together... good question though, seems like it would help a lot, you can ski at least twice as much with one.

the thing it helps most with is hitting rails unnatural (opposite foot forward)

i couldnt hit a handrail unnatural to save my life 2 years ago, but then i practiced both ways on my setup all summer and last winter i was doing handrail DFDs unnatural. /claim

as for switch ups and 270 on/off, I found they are still way easier with the longer, better rails at the mountain anyway. my summer rail is too short to kfed.

My experience has been, it helps for sure, but not as much as you might think. It felt like i was relearning tricks on snow that i had on lock with my summer setup.

Why is that? well, i think it's because every rail is different... width of the rail, height, and definately metal versus plastic pvc. all of these things together make things much different than hitting a familiar/comfortable setup that you've seshed countless times. Others might feel different, i don't know.

What i found that it really helps with is 2's on, getting very comfortable scissoring and gripping, learning unatty, and spinning off rails. Bottom line is it's worth the time.

I've pretty much learned every trick on my setup and it's for sure really fun, but my only problem is that I'm way more consistent on my setup because I'm always hitting the same rail.

Pretty much, if you make a summer setup, the next winter you will be Tom Wallisch. I'm not lying. make it as fast as you can so you can get sponsored and PAIDDD next winter.
