hi i was just wondering if someone could plese help me find the best way to make a summer set up andhow much it would cost i already have rails and stff but nothing else. help = +k thank you.

you can get astro turf for 1 dollor a square foot if you dont wanna go through the trouble of building a whole set up you can just lay it down on a hilll throw on a little soap and water and you should have plenty of speed with 20 feet of astro build a jump out of plywood and put it next to rail put some astro down for a landing and your set

i heard of peolpe using construction fence is tha ok? and what about carpet cause i can get lots of carpet for free :P thanks a bunch for the posts btw

YOU WILL NEED PLENTY OF THESE ITEMS.

^TO COVER YOUR DROP IN AND RAMP

AND FINALLY:

^CONSTRUCTION/SNOW FENCING TO LAYER OVER YOUR TURF ON THE DROP IN (IT IS MUCH FASTER). DO NOT PUT IT ON THE JUMP, AS YOU WILL HAVE NO EFFECTIVE EDGE.

you want turf underneath the fence so otherwise you would basically be riding on the wood thats underneath = not good for your skis. old carpet will also work for going under the fence, just something soft so you don't scrape up your skis on the wood. but you want only turf on the jump because riding on snowfence is like riding on ice: you cannot turn/carve/have an effective edge. i got enough turf for the jump and landing (14' x around 8' total) for around 30 bucks, and the snowfence is around 20 bucks.

Take a look at mine in my pics, it works great. If you got deminsion or any other questions then ask. And jw, what kinda rails u using and how much did you spend making them?

I have just two flat bars but one doesn't slide for some reason even in the winter and one was made for me and the other I bought for around 40 I think there both. 12ft.

I got a 10 foot pvc double barral. A 12 foot single barrel and a 8 foot single barrrel. All pvc. Just looking for something around 15 foot. And also a flat bar. Where'd u buy yours at?

Sick stuff one off a friend and the other from my uncle he built it ,he's a welder just go to a welder they'll probably do it for fairly cheap probably around 30

i do that in my back yard, 30 feet though, on a decently steep hill to a 10 ft rail. It doesnt work that well and you have to really push with your poles to get the speed your looking for. If you put plywood under the rugging itll work WAY better than just putting it on the grass. The orange fencing you can find at construction sites seems to work really well too.

heres a picture of mine, in stead of covering the whole drop in ramp with turf, i used pvc, its way faster. after that just have a short run in of turf (you can use pallets or something) and put some on your jump, then make a little landing after the rail

not any specific brand, however you might want to go with a thin kind. You want it to hold up, but the thicker it is the slower you go. Mybe go thicker for the take off.

That's what I've heard but what I'm gonna do is get some carpet otta a dumster roll it down a hill throw over the snow fence then have a jump with astro turf on it to a rail and astro turf landing.will this work do you think??? Cause it'll only cost me like 30 bucks.

dude just guess work it. You need a ladder (launch for speed), astroturf off the launch, a jump onto the rail. and its WAYYY easier with 2 or more people. Me and a bud made a 15ft launch and a box and rail for 36$. If you want it done quickly, don't follow step by step instructions.

alll of this cost me nothing!!! what i did was take some carpet outtta a garbage can from a house being built, along with paticall wood, then i went to a construction site and took some snow fence. i brought it all home. i took the wood as a base nailed the capet to that and ten layed snow fence over it having it hook on the nails sorda i brought it all to a hill near my house layed the pieces with wod, carpet and snow fence down in sequence threw some treseme shampoo on it and poored water and it slid pretyy good!!!! now all i gotta do is get some astro turf for the jump and landing and i should be set!!!!!!

Thanks fo all the help

David

+k for all

build a 10-15 ladder... you don't need a huge dropin like some of these guys got... it's a waste of time to build a tall drop in.

all u need is a hill and ur good. the nice part is dat u can build watever u want with scrap wood and stuff. the only thing that costed mony on mine was the turf.
