If I took the lip out and just made the tranny right up to the rail would that work? So no lip and the flat spot would be about 20 inches or so off the ground. I suck at describing things sorry.

To be honest, yes it will work, it will just be slightly harder to do spins on and thats about all.

Here's what i have so far. It is different from what i have seen before on NS. What we did is put 2 16ft boards that were connected on their back and flexed them until we got the shape we wanted. still have to add more supports and the lip. Saved alot of lumber and got a smooth transition. Thinking about making a tutorial on this type if it works well.
How long did it take you to build all of that? (in hours), and yeah tutorial would be awesome!

12978578:grmwbb said:Ya gunna be so slooooooowww why not make that thing taller and steeper with the same design. Steep as possible then with a mellow tranny would be sick

I love multiquotes
12978649:nine50seven said:Yeah, it is pretty mellow but it can be adjusted pretty easily. Its 6.5 feet tall now how much taller would you want it?
12978701:_yager_ said:2. powderpak/msnow since your drop in is pretty short (in terms of height) to begin with
12978169:nine50seven said:well i dont really have alot of wood to try stuff and it not work. but i think im going to put a slight lip onto it.
yeah i checked that out but we went a different route and went by our own design

Alright this is what we did today. I still have to add the HDPE and carpet. Going to see how this works before i make any adjustments. If i were to make adjustments to it i think i would make the kickers( diagnal supports on the right) shorter and/or move the lip closer to the platform.
12978958:Mr.Huck said:I'm seeing significant speed problems in your future, sorry to say. Slope is too gentle and tranny is too long. The only way that will work is if you use rollers of some sort.
12979897:theabortionator said:As much as I hate to see anything go wrong I have the perfect gif in my mind. Jumping hard into the the slope and having it flex at the bottom to the point the structure buckles and the tower get's pull forward and everything collapses on itself.
Yes that's unlikely but I have a vivid imagination.

The tranny is waaayyy too long, you'll have some speed but you'll lose it all on the flat transition. Your gonna have to make some adjustments, which is pretty normal for building your first drop in. First off, your gonna need to remove the entire middle section that I put a red X over. There's no need for it and you'll lose speed. Cut it off at both of the support legs and then you can replace it with your lip. You'll be cutting those 16 ft boards you bent and then find a way to attach to lip. Plywood over that and you should be good to go. This probably seems like a pain in the ass but it's even more of a pain when you build the entire drop in only to find out it's too slow.

12980646:grmwbb said:^that shit is weird but creative i guess. put plywood on the lip for sure i would only have the plastic at the top and then plywood and turf for 75% of it
12980891:matt164 said:You have to use astro turf.
12980946:dangler2470 said:No the HDPE rollers OP has will work much better than turf. They have less surface area so they will provide more speed. Of course I would prefer turf over rollers since your skis could drop potentially drop through, but the rollers will work perfectly fine
