im going to california in the end of june/start of july and my parents are stopping in portland for few days where ill have to time to go to hood. how is the public park and how much does it cost?

Timberline parks are always money and the end of june/beginning of july is a great time to visit. The day lift ticket was $50 last year - but if you have some stamina and determination it can be hiked.

and when does the summer park close because i might be driving back thru oregon and be able to ski again.

The hike depends on where the park is - in the early season when it is on the mile it is about a 45 minute hike up the climbers trail. Later, when the path is free of snow, it only takes 30 minutes or so. When they move the park up to the lower palmer, it can take up to 1 hour 20 minutes.

It is sort of a brutal hike, though, because it is all up hill and each step takes you higher with no respite.

This depends on the snow - this year, there was a public park all through the fall and into December (before the winter season started). Given the snowpack, I would guess there will be a park at least until they do they lift maintenance shut down after labor day.

Just be careful hiking... Sometimes staff will roll threw the park and ask to see a lift ticket and if you dont have one, they will kick you out. Its a liability for them since you didnt buy a lift ticket. They hassled me about it once and i was in slip ons and shorts just up there filming. You will have the best luck hiking during the week.Public park up there is super fun though.

Yes - this is absolutely true. However, my brother and I only got kicked out once last summer and we almost exclusively hiked the park on Saturday or Sunday. The time they got us there were about 40 other riders that had hiked and were chilling in the rocks above the flat box - it was quite a scene but pretty obvious that it was all hikers.

Yeah chances are if you hike you wont get fucked with! its usually worth hiking when the park gets moved to the bottom of palmer, they will put up a whole rail/jib section.

anyone know if they offer a seasons pass for the summer, or some sort of multi day discount.
i'm bout to stay for 14 days so i'm not trying to pay 700 dollars.

how late does the park still stay good until? im planning right now to be there on the 15th of july, will the park still be good then or should i come earlier?
