i am going to be graduating high school this year and am wondering what are some summer jobs that i can work 40+ hours a week? i want to make as much as possible this summer , and don't mind working like a dog. I have previous experience and am currently a busser at the keg but want more hours then they can give to me during the summer.

Any good ideas ns?

that was just someone looking for their first job. Im sure most of them wont be 40+hrs a week, keep the thread around since youre looking for a more specific answer. Just thought you could look through there for some ideas.

Work for the government/city... Good pay, unionized, easy work, great hours.

I'm making more than $20 an hour right now, 9.5 hours a day 4 days a week. I have two 4 day weekends and a 5 day weekend this month, and I'm basically a parking lot attendant. Fuck yeah.

how did you get this job?

how old are you?

I am interested in doing that.

I am a junior in high school and want to make as much money this summer so i can buy some actually nice equipment!

It might be too late in the season for it, but I thought I'd mention it anyways.Where I am there's a job fair in february, you basically just go and fill out applications and hope someone calls you back. Pretty sure you need to be 18 though.

I'm 21 and have some pretty good work experience, so that probably helped too.

My recommendation: apply EVERYWHERE. I was unemployed for like a month in january and it fucking sucked, no money, no car because I couldn't pay insurance, I was just sitting around and applying for jobs while driving around with my parents' car. But then I started getting a lot of calls from different places... I actually worked at starbucks for about a month which was awesome but not very profitable.

Another option that might be worth a shot: try to find an "in" somewhere - ie your dad's friend that runs a construction company, or something like that. Job hunting is a bitch but well worth it when you find something good.

Even if you don't get the dream job this year, accumulate work experience and references. Make sure that when your new job calls up your old boss, they have good things to say about you.

Where do you live?

If you're in Calgary, send me a resume. I'm hiring laborers and you're going to get a shit-ton of hours. We had guys last summer with 100+hour pay checks.

I was able to bank 400hrs of overtime myself.

see if your county would has a summer work program doing road work. thats what i will be doing and its 40 hours a week

youre way too late to apply for any of the "good" summer jobs. gotta start looking around christmas for government student positions, which IMO are the most reliable, highest paying and best hours generally speaking. depending on what you do, there is a lot of opportunity for overtime as well
