Summer is here and I don't want to get fat

So summer is here, school sports are over, and I need to work out. Mainly, I just want to work out for skiing since I'm not sure I'll be playing school sports next year. So what to do? I'd prefer if the workouts are ones you can do at home, because I'm not too fond of going to the gym. Typically, skiing workouts would focus on legs and that's what I've been doing, but I know I need a lot more core workouts and a little bit of upper body. So what do you all recommend?

I've been doing jump rope, lunges, some squatting but not too often, pull-ups, and crunches.

There isnt much more you can do at home... sign up at your local gym and go jogging/biking as much as you can

you are a prime recruit for the "recentlymarried-broke-inschoolfulltime-workfulltime-justdontwanttogetfat-workout"

i dont want to threadjack but could someone pm me and plan to loose a lot of weight easily? I've gained a shit ton of weight in the past 4 months and im quite fat atm

I don't get fat in the winter because I played basketball all winter and ski on the weekends. And I am part of my local gym, I just don't like going to the gym. Also, I hate running, haha. That's why I opted for jump rope, it builds some endurance if you do it long enough, and it greatly works on leg strength.

get insanity, im 3 weeks into it and it kicks your ass but it is getting me into such good shape, you dont have to join a gym or anything and its only 40 minutes a day. its kinda pricey like $160, but its well worth it if you want to get in shape

push ups (diamond, regular, and wide)

pull ups (regular and wide)

abs

run (rump rope)

also whenever you're walking or just standing around try to engage your core, it will improve your posture and eventually you will do it without even thinking about it

the tres workoutyou do all three of these exercises: t-push ups, burpees, and squats. you first do 10 reps of each exercise then 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1. Then break. then do a second set. you can do that all from your home. also you can add weights to the t-push ups and squats depending on how strong you are

Join a martial art. Boxing is particularly good for weight loss. I personally lost 40 lbs I'n 4 months boxing and you could a

Fucking iPhone. Anyway. Join boxing or any other martial art, train diligently and you WILL lose weight if you eat plenty of veggies fruits and lean proteins with every meal. Also increasing to 5 or 6 small meals a day will speed ip your metabolism like crazy.

No need for the profanity. I have a job. I'm a lifeguard, I sit around all day doing nothing.

That Navy Seal crunch thing looked so hard, but I might try it every once in a while. I also do swim a couple laps every time I'm on the job when I'm on break. Thanks for all the help though.

Swimming laps is one of the best workouts you can get. Before I started working all the time, I swam like a mile everyday, and I was in the best shape of my life.

MY WORKOUT ROUTINE:

-PLAYING BEER PONG

-SHOTGUNNING CHEAP BEER

-ENJOYING COLD BEERS ON A WARM DAY

-PATIO BEERS

I TRY TO WORKOUT OUT 3-4 TIMES A WEEK FOR MAXIMUM RESULTS

Actually, a lap is down and back. You're referring to lengths. It's about 35 laps. It's really not difficult. Just take it nice and easy, switch it up with some kick and pull and maybe take it 5 or 10 laps at a time with a minute break in between. If that's to much, try starting at half a mile or so and working your way up, like running. You sweat more in a pool than doing any other excersize on land... you just can't tell :).

get a job landscaping, i had to get a new belt after two and a half weeks this summer. i was thin to begin with, now im feeling a bit emaciated(comparatively speaking). i need to consume a shit ton of carbs to maintain weight right now.

And if you hate gyms and running and conventional 'boring' excersize, take up climbing, hiking, fruitbooting, swimming, trampolining, and find a dry ski slope to hit.

Then you can keep fit and have fun.

I used to be a super strong swimmer like 2 years ago, I swam year-round and swam probably a mile each day. But now, it seems like so much. But yeah you're right about the laps-lengths thing. I might try swimming a bit but I don't have the time for that when lifeguarding and I'm too lazy to do that on my own.

I'm probably going to keep jump roping, push-ups/pull-ups, core exercises, squats, lunges, and maybe run 2 miles every other day and I'll be good.

this. and you can go for a run. if you have a pool theres a lot of good workouts with your legs in the pool because of the resistance from the water.

I try to go mountain biking as often as I can but living where I live doesn't give me great opportunities and none of my friends do it.

yuuuuup

i rode 13.13 miles today, had a blast, didn't even feel like a workout. I cant deal with being a gerbil on a treadmill, i'd rather be out in the woods on the MTN bike any day of the week (which is why i am on most days of the week haha)

for real that shit makes you insanely in shape. works every muscle. short axis (fly and breast) work shoulders, chest, and abs really well. long axis (free and back) work arms and legs. not to mention, youll eat an insane amount of food, because your body will get increasingly tired, so youll gain good weight if you diet properly and keep up with it.
