Summer in Saas Fee

How much is a summer season pass in Saas Fee

Is the park good there during the summer months?

I am thinking of going from late june/early july through to the beginning/middle of august. is this a good time?

Can you reccomend any good hostels/ cheap places to live?

What other stuff is there to do there besides skiing? ie- much climbing/kayaking

Any ideas whether the glacier is suitable for kiteskiing?

cheers

jack

well a winter season pass is 850 swiss francs which i believe is about $700, i'm guessing a summer pass would be similar to that.. as for other activities, there is some climbing, a small skate park, soccer pitches, basketball and im sure other stuff i'm forgetting.. as for kite skiing.. i've never seen it but i don't know for sure.. and the cheapest place to stay would be down in the valley in saas grund but that means a bus to the bottom of the lifts every day.. hope that helps.. oh and the park is pretty sick in summer.. at least by european standards..

Yup im comin out with rossirider, there should be a big crew of us should be sick. if anyone from switzerland happens to come on this, any info of how the parks coming along this year would be awesome, the site doesn't appear to have anything of the planned summer set up etc., its been snowing constantly though, even now a month after the winter season ended etc. , so it should be good this year!

The summer pass is about $900.

The glacier only opens early-mid july so don't bother going there earlier. Zermatt opens earlier but the park crew doesn't arrive before july either.

The park is pretty good, especially the kickers. The boxes/rails are sketchy sometimes. The pipe sucked last summer.

I've never seen anyone kite-skiing in Saas-Fee. I've only seen people do it in Les Diablerets.

Besides skiing there is golf, climbing, etc.. there's no kayaking the rivers up there are too gnarly.

Saas-Fee is pretty expensive to stay. I don't know any cheap hostels there, but I know a bunch in Zermatt. Also if you want more extra activities you should consider Zermatt.

The amounts of snow up there right now are ridiculous.

Alright mate, do you know if its particularly cheap to go for one day to zermatt etc.or whether theres any promotions between the saas fee and zermatt lift passes. Im based in Saas Fee for the month but with Zermatt just up the road wouldn't mind giving it a go a few days! Thanks for any info!

no, sadly.. Basically your Saas-Fee pass is worthless in Zermatt and vice versa :(

Getting from Saas-Fee to Zermatt is pretty easy by car, you drive 40 minutes to Tasch, then take the train for 5 minutes to Zermatt, and take a little electro bus across the village to the gondola station. If you don't have a car it's better to go in the evening and stay at the matterhorn hostel or something, because the bus/train connection sucks.

the hotel dom in saas fee has recently added 2 hostel style rooms, which are designed to reduce the cost of staying there etc.. the advantage of the hotel dom is that it is directly above the dopest bar in the world POPCORN

hey..

just rippin up an "old" thread..

i was just wondering if more people are going to saas fee this summer? i'll be there from july 11.th to august 3.th..

Hey, yeah the british freeski camps are on at the same time! i think im coming out the day after you are and were leaving on the 9th of august, can't wait. i'm gonna be there for a danish ski/snowboard camp.. guess there's gonna be a lot of different camps there at the same time..

i've never been there before, so don't really know much about it.. haha. just stoked that i'll be able to ski this summer..

Danes! awesome haha

ye saas is a sick place, it has got pretty much everything, good biking/football/basketball/swimming/ night life/nice town etc. etc. off the mountain, and on the mountain it has a sick park. Was friends with quite a lot of some american race team last year, they seemed to like the race set up aswell. see you out there! drop us a line if you want any info or anythin

Join the club, if you can find cheap flights then your golden, thats the problem though this late, all or nothing

once your there hthough i think the camps are cheapest, if you just get apartment and lift pass i think its about 250 for the week or something like that for both, good value anyway

hey man im heading out to saas for a week from london on 12th july. look for flights with swiss air from london city airport, pretty cheap return flight. look forward to seein you all out there

Comin over to Saas fee for some filming early august, someone know any cheap places to stay? Or if anyone has room in their apartment?
