Ok - so trampolining is filling a gap for my kid. He is getting private instruction in a gym on several different types of tramps into mats and pits for body awareness and spotting landings. My question. Are floor mat routines are good to get involved in.

I would think tumbling would help you learn to absorb falls and such. I would think that running forward trampoline vaults would be helpful too. Does anyone actively do this stuff?

I can't wait to be a dad and sign my kids up for all types of training to help him excell in skiing. Imagine if all of us were doing that stuff when we were that young.

yeah papasteeze you are the man!!!! and ohh yeah anything gymnastics related would help. Simon Dumont was the state gymnastics champ in maine if i am correct. It would help for tricks and for falling for body awareness

i'm sure 99% of this site knows that jon gets laid more than 99% of this site. --strode420

I think he want's to already join that ribbon class too. Getting close-ups of girls doing warm-ups splits in tight leotards is his motivation, I think.... j/k

Forward tramps into mats (maybe not vaulting) is great for learning how to land and how to fall.. and a lot safer/realistic than just landing on a tramp - so you can try harder tricks without as much of the worry of falling off the tramp or landing funny and then falling off.

Yeah that sounds so fun

Ski while you can

Also, what did you have for breakfast?

My kid has got a dreadlocked female ball of fire for a coach - I gave her a DVD of 1242 to watch so she could understand terminology like cork, misty, bio etc etc.. She was so pumped to help out. By far, she seems to use the regular tramp for the basics, then moves him onto tramp to a pit and then to landing on a mat. The progresssion with a little coaching is amazingly quick. I like how she hollers at him - LOOK FOR IT! LAND IT! JUST DO IT!!

that sounds wicked dope, my boyfriend did cross training and all that shit up until this year when he fucked up his t3 and l2.. but it definitely helped him with snowboarding he has so much control in the air and it comes naturally to him so he has more ability to really focus on style. which is important.

THE LAB.

actually, he has a point.

ballet teaches you how to land correctly, fall correctly, what parts of your feet are the most powerful, et cetera. plus cause you have to be totally anorexic or at least act like one, you learn how to absorb jumps and what not the right way. it makes you graceful too. it really helped me, i think.

plus, in diving i would get up on the board and i would automatically be the judged favorite cause i had a really pretty stance with my hands and stuff all ballet-ed out.

OH also it teaches rythem, which is good for turning and whatever.

ok never mind, maybe only I got the benefits.

guy at SkiShop SC to me: "Why is there sand in your bindings?"

"If you're alive, I probably hate you."

Any of the balance regimens are good.. Wasn't there a time when football players were encouraged to take ballet? All though, talk about whats gay.. I compressed my t3 also..

What other sports teach you to absorb falls?

Also I know for a fact that Tanner Hall used to go to a local gymnastics place here and used the gym to learn/practice his skills. So who knows papasteeze you might have next T on your hands.

put him in dance class and tell him it will help him stomp a 10 so you can laugh at him as he runs around

balllet sounds gnar

my parents won't even buy me a tramp

Karate or any other martial art will help just about everything from balance to being aware of your body to learning how to fall. Being able to beat the living shit out of someone isn't a bad thing either.
