Summer Compilation Critique? +k

Hey NewSchoolers. This is the first edit I've made since I finally got FCP7 and I'm wondering if you, the brilliant magicians of NS, could give me some feedback by chance? I'd really like to see what other people think about it...definitely the negative side of things. I want to get better and nothing will help more aside form negative criticism. I can say one thing about it and that is the fact that I lost a lot of quality after exporting it, having the file too big, and having to compress it. Is there anyway to keep the quality/clarity throughout this process?

Halfway through this summer i switched over to trying to use the Technicolor Cinestyle and I'm not sure if i really like the final out come. It was good for some of the indoor shorts but not the outdoor ones. And lastly...The time lapses seem to get a lot of noise...when in full screen anyways. Is there anyway in post I can get rid of this?

Shit that was nice. I got a couple things though, in the one shot at 3:24 , I personally would've put it in because how the water got splashed on the camera. None of the other shots, water got on the lens. Just seemed a bit inconsistent imo. And I felt like you used... oh shit I honestly dont know what its called. Like when you're unfocused and then go into focused. That effects a little too much. ex. 0:14, 0:23, 0:55 ect. Idk just not really a fan of it. At the shots of the villagers, all the colors were a bit too vibrant. Everything seemed to be just popping off the screen and it was kinda overwhelming for me. Finally, I think you used the same shot twice ( 0:29,4:13 ) BUT WAIT. those time lapses were so gnarly. The music flowed really well with how the vibe felt. It was real nice. Don't really know if you understood all that but thats what I felt needed to be changed.

Thanks for your input man! Personally I have noticed myself doing a lot of the out-of-focus to -in-to-foucus shots but i think thats mainly because I don't want to be adding a bunch of cross dissolves etc in post. And thats for the color input. This was my first time really playing with the colors after i shot it so it's going to take a little getting used to. And thanks for the support on the time lapses...those were probably some of my favorite things to take. Thanks a lot man!

That was a really well put together edit dude! I love how the music went so well with all of your shots! Now for constructive criticism, I think a little bit of color correction would really make all the shots pop out a lot more. The color was good but I think if it was more contrasty or saturated it would really bring out all of the shots. For a few of the shots I noticed that they were a little shaky so if I were you next time I would put some stabilization in post or use some sort of a stabilizer. Overall it looks like your having a great summer!
 
Looks pretty sick man! Really fun vibe to it. One small nit I have to pick is that a lot of the shots were a tad bit overexposed. Not like a horrendous amount, but you can get much nicer shots if you're making sure you expose correctly. Check live view! And remember the sunny f16 rule! Overall though, nice job and really well put together.
